DBS. Expired passport.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use an expired passport for a DBS check?
I don't have a driving licence either.
I do have my birth certificate but just a small one.
My marriage certificate is useless since it's from a non eu country.
Gah! I should just give up shouldn't I?!

Pretty sure it needs to be current.

Have you looked at the option 2 and 3 routes?

FuzzBallMushroomP · 07/11/2018 13:02

I have. I think it depends on whether my birth certificate is acceptable or not. It's only small so I don't know if it's a full one.

Can you apply for a full birth certificate? It’s quite easy.

LIZS · 07/11/2018 13:09

It has to be current. However the list does not specify a full birth certificate.

I'm looking now at ordering the full one, just to make my life a bit easier.
I'm hoping full birth cert, bank statement and utility bill will be enough.

Have you had a previous DBS?
I got one in March with a current passport and drivers licence.
I needed a new one in September (new place) but my passport had expired in that time. Presented expired with drivers licence and previous DBS. Came thru in under 2 weeks - not bad

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/11/2018 15:35

I’ve only got a short form birth certificate and that was fine for my DBS check. I did have a valid passport though...

PepperOnMyPaprikash · 07/11/2018 17:02

A birth certificate issued at birth is okay as a Group 1 document, but a new full birth certificate would only be a Group 2 document.

AltogetherAndrews · 07/11/2018 17:17

I don’t have a passport or a drivers licence, and it was fine

BrightonMam · 07/11/2018 17:20

You need a photo ID

2 years ago (when I did these) route 1 you COULD use an expired passport for the photo ID and birth certificate and utility bill as the other ID

BrightonMam · 07/11/2018 17:22

Oops just checked and not the case anymore

FuzzBallMushroomP · 07/11/2018 17:38

It's the one issued at birth but doesn't say much Confused .
Do you mind me asking what you used Altogether ?
