brunch for 30

my family are landing at ours about 930 on Sunday for a photo shoot (dm really wants her kids and grandkids all over her house lol)
it 'll be over by 11 but as they re travelling I want to make sure they re fed well.
any ideas or something easily made...(it 'll be chaos in the house) for approx 30 ?
I was thinking scones brown bread etc on the table, take as you want but that's not enough some are travelling 100 k home at 12.
preferably something I can do up sat night...it 'll be tricky getting my family photo ready as it is Sunday morning and we 've st s family descending Saturday for a reunion so I 've same numbers on Saturday but that's for a proper dinner.
my gang will want to hit the road as soon as they can lol.
(I know it's poor planning but both events planned by sister and sister in law...they just need me to deliver their plans..which is absolutly fine)
so if anyone could help with menu options I'd be so grateful. I m a decent cook but it's the ideas I m stumped with. nothing too fancy as that's not their style and has to seem easy because my dad would be upset if I seemed to put a huge amount of effort in.

How about sausages on rolls? Cook up a few different flavours of good quality sausages and then keep them warm in the oven. Put out rolls and various sauces, relishes and mustards and everyone makes up their own. Can do gluten free rolls and veggie sausages as needed.

Those small pancakes prepackaged ones in 8-packs with a bowl of blueberries and maple syrup. You can warm in the oven.

senua · 07/11/2018 08:52

Frittata. You can make it as fancy or plain as you want; do a variety. It's protein so it will fill them up. You can eat it by the slice so you don't need plates, just paper napkins. You can make the night before (or buy!) and either re-warm or serve cold. Eggs are relatively cheap.

Sausage sandwiches / rolls. Cook sausages in oven and keep warm. Nice bread / rolls / sauce. Could do bacon too and keep warm in oven.

shortgreengiraffe · 07/11/2018 09:25

Cook a load of sausages, pop in a slow cooker if you have one or low oven if not. Lots of pre-cut and buttered rolls with red/brown sauce and get people to help themselves. Don't forget plates and napkins.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/11/2018 09:26

Are they eating before or after photo shoot?
You need to avoid stuff that is high risk for dropping blobs and grease on clothes, especially for small children

WendyCope · 07/11/2018 09:28

Think Fritatta with warmed up baguette is a great idea.

VERY easy to make in advance and just warm up bread next day. Cold sausages also prepared before. Don't need to be hot.
Maybe a bowl of fruit/oranges/tangerines etc.

DONE!

TwoGinScentedTears · 07/11/2018 09:54

Order a fruit platter from one of the supermarkets and some sarnies too. Buy in a load of yoghurts too. Save yourself the hassle!

HeresMeh · 07/11/2018 09:55

Get to Costco for those huge packs of croissants..

Stick some fruit and yoghurt out and different meats etc...

Jobs a good'un

Andtheresaw · 07/11/2018 10:06

continental buffet: bread, meat, cheese, juice, coffee, tea.

MargotMoon · 07/11/2018 10:09

Big thing of kedgeree?

PurpleDaisies · 07/11/2018 10:12

I’d do a buffet of croissants, nice bread, fruit, proper butter, jams etc.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 07/11/2018 10:13

I would steer clear of anything that needs sauce with it (like sausage in rolls) if you expect to be eating before the photo. Otherwise I expect lots of spots on tops to have to be photo shopped out!

MaxPepsi · 07/11/2018 10:20

Fruit cake
Cheese
Bucks Fizz

Toaster, sliced bread, jams, butter etc laid out on a table for people to make their own as they see fit. With croissants and Danish pastries.

Loads of napkins.

If you think your family will want hot sandwiches, then sausages and bacon in the oven and let them help themselves.

AdaColeman · 07/11/2018 10:22

Continental breakfast with bread, sliced cheese, a couple of different types ham/salami, maybe a bowl of hard boiled eggs.

Quick and easy to do and doesn't need to be served hot.

Also mugs of soup might be good for those setting off on their journey.

sunnyshowers · 07/11/2018 10:26

we 'll probably eat after (god forbid the make up would be ruined)
absolutly fantastic ideas thank you all.
the pancakes will be brilliant for kids and I 'll do bread scones when I wake up and frittas and sausages can be in the oven.
that's brill thank you all.
is imagine each of us kids and our own children will go and munch as we finish our photo.
it s got to be relaxed....thank you all so much...now the shopping begins.
it's a Pita doing 2 different parties 2 days in a row...list s are my friend

Can you get your hands on two slo-cookers? One to hold cooked sausages and one to hold scrambled egg. Then rolls, fruit, croissants, etc.

sunnyshowers · 07/11/2018 20:57

mildmanneredmum....I can do even better lol...my mother in law gave me her hostess trolley. ...I know naff etc but my god I LOVE it. she s 90 now and always hosted every event..I took over slowly after fildied and she just wasn't able. so I 've hosted everything since...she 'll be here all weekend and will either be thrilled it's used or want it back lol.
