I'm just wondering how much everyone spends on food shopping a week or a month? And for how many people?

Two of us about £65 per 10 days

Zoflorabore · 07/11/2018 00:46

Way too much! Easily at least £150 per week, 2 adults, one teen ds who eats like a horse and dd who is 7.
Ds and I are on slimming world. Dd and I are vegetarian.
I also do packed lunches for 3 people for 5 days.

Our food bill is higher than our rent by at least £50 a week.

PickAChew · 07/11/2018 00:46

About £2.50 pm for 4 of us.

Thanks for the link Kalimotxo!
I'm asking because I need to cut down on spending but I'm worried it won't work. I spend £100 a week on 4 of us. That includes washing powders and toilet paper etc. Is it even possible to spend less?!

Hi mummymermaid!

You could post in Credit Crunch, but to get started here are some older threads with useful tips.

Main things are: meal plan, batch cook, buy frozen, reduce meat, buy from value range, switch to a different grocery, track all your spend.

I budget for a few super cheap meals a week (daal, soup), then a few £1-1.50 a portion meals, and two meals at £3+ per head - not a conventional way of working it out but the one that makes the most sense to me.
