I live rurally. It's been raining heavily here tonight.
On the way home from work, I got to my least favourite part of the journey: a back road (more like a lane) which is awfully narrow and full of pot holes. You rarely meet another car here and no houses or anything for miles. Another car was coming from the opposite direction and pulled right in to the side to give way to me. Unfortunately he ended up getting his front wheel stuck in the mud and couldn't move.
I offered to give the man a lift somewhere if it was close by. He refused.
We were both getting a crappy reception on our phones but he eventually managed to get through to his breakdown company. They estimated a 2 hour wait due to our location and the fact he was in no danger.
He again refused my offer of a lift somewhere or to contact someone once i got to an area with a better signal.
Not sure what else I could have done. Feel really guilty as he was trying to be nice moving over for me. Now i'm home, nice and warm, and he's likely going to be stuck sitting in his car for 2 hours.
