Just listening to it now and singing along loudly Grin (I was 20 I think when Jagged Little Pill came out), I'd forgotten how good it was!

I remember hearing You Oughta Know on the radio in the car and I had to pull over to listen to the words.

Well I’m here - to re-MIND you.

Went straight to the shop to buy the album (on tape Grin) and DP nicked my tape and kept playing it at his workplace (where loads of men worked. They all loved it 👍).

MrsChollySawcutt · 06/11/2018 19:38

Yep the hidden track is called Your House and I think it's one of my favourite songs ever!!

PersonalityLines · 06/11/2018 19:44

There's not a bad song on that album. Every song has been a favourite at some point. I recently watched the Woodstock set she did in '99 and I just love how she sounds live. She covers some ground in that one! Any stand out tracks not from JLP? For me Precious Illusions, (especially acoustic) Princes Familiar and That I Would Be Good.

I was about 15 when Jagged Little Pill was released. Absolutely loved it. I still have the original cd.

siakcaci · 06/11/2018 20:00

I remember staying up until 4am far too often, playing Rayman on the very first PlayStation and jagged little pill was the album of choice, for MONTHS!!

Wow, to be a teenager again.

ProfYaffle · 06/11/2018 20:06

I was 23 when it came out. A big group of us got tickets to see her on tour with the album. Before the gig took place I broke up with my boyfriend but he still insisted on using his ticket and coming along anyway Confused

Best moment of the 90s was me and my friends screaming the lyrics to You Oughta Know at him while he pretended not to see us! He was at least shame faced enough to leave before the encore and missed Your House.

Chesntoots · 06/11/2018 20:06

Thanks for this. Just downloaded the album. Can't wait to get into the car tomorrow now!

AlpacaPicnic · 06/11/2018 20:13

Oh, happy flashbacks! I was on a very long coach trip approx 10 hours long with one 90min tape in my Walkman, one side was the entire of Jagged Little Pill and the other was a rock chick compilation with things like Cher, Heart, Bonnie Tyler etc. I'd just flip constantly from one side to the other.

Great times!

Frouby · 06/11/2018 20:18

Loved this album, was 18 and madly in love for the first time in a very up and down angst ridden relationship. It was the perfect antidote to the Britpop when I was dumped or doing the dumping.

AlpacaPicnic · 06/11/2018 20:21

I've just looked into downloading it onto my phone but it's 8.99 and I just can't bring myself to pay that much for an album that old, that own thrice already... once on tape and twice on cd because DH had a copy as did I when we met!

batshitbetty · 06/11/2018 20:22

Another late teen when Jagged Little Pill came out! Can I also add Right Through You to the list...

EdWinchester · 06/11/2018 20:22

God, we loved this album. This and Stoosh by Skunk Anansie were our party scream along to albums when we were young and very pissed.

PavlovianLunge · 06/11/2018 20:30

What a cracking album, You Oughta Know and Forgiven are my standouts, not just for the music but the lyrics also. It’s like the whole thing just burst out of her, and 20 years later, I can still feel the rage, wild and savage, but so focused and laser sharp.

I don’t think she’s ever matched Jagged Little Pill, but Under Rug Swept comes close, and is another of my favourite albums.

BertyFlanter · 06/11/2018 20:52

I loved this album too, and then the anniversary acoustic version of it was also amazing 😍 couldn't quite fall in love with any of her later albums though sadly.

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 06/11/2018 20:56

I used to like her, but 'Ironic' put me off. None of the examples she gives are 'ironic' - they're disappointing/annoying/frustrating, but they're not ironic.

That’s the irony!

It’s meta.

chicagolil · 06/11/2018 21:06

I was about to say this. How ironic!!

The irony is that it's not irony, but Americans don't understand irony so therefore they think it is ironic. Which is ironic.

SeekingClosure · 07/11/2018 12:53

But ironically she's not American. Smile

Babybearsporij · 07/11/2018 14:54

Ahhh I loved this album too. Surely one of the best albums ever made? None of the songs "should" work, but somehow, they just do.

AnotherPidgey · 07/11/2018 15:00

Apparently Jagged Little Pill was the most stolen CD from student houses at the end of the 90s. That's the only thing I remember from the police talk on student safety when I went to uni. Grin

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 07/11/2018 15:03

oooh I used to play JLP loud and sing along driving to and fro then BF, now DH's flat when we were dating, so I'd have been 19/20

excellent album

Hunlife · 07/11/2018 15:10

I remember getting Jagged Little Pill from my friend (on cassette) for my fourteenth birthday. I played it to death!

AgathaRaisinDetra · 08/11/2018 06:58

On cassette? Did someone tape it off their CD for you?

TwoGinScentedTears · 08/11/2018 07:11

I charged up an old MP3 player yesterday and had a flick through the music I'd put on it.

I didn't get past A because Alanis Morisette was on it. Listened to the whole thing and thought what a bloody brilliantly album. Sounds as good today as it did 20 years ago!

Raahh · 08/11/2018 07:34

agatha albums on cassette were around when Jagged little Pill came out, and for quite a few years after. I worked in Our Price at the time. Grin

AmIAWeed · 08/11/2018 07:41

My now 12 year old daughter also loves the album, except when Ironic is on and husband and I sing the words before the line to show how AMAZING we are for remembering
It is awesome
