Im contemplating this as a cheaper alternative to Disneyland Paris.

Any recommendations or reasons not to go?
How many days in the park?
How reasonable is food and drink in the park?
Anyone added in days in Amsterdam or Rotterdam?
Best uk school holiday to go in?

Kids would be 4.5 and 7.5.

We’ve just done Disneyland Paris with my just turned 2 year old but he wasn’t too keen on it as the rides are more for older children and there is very little playground type places.

Is this place better for toddlers? We would love to do something similar next year around June time but will also have a newborn with us by then too.

I really want to go and am thinking May 2020, those that have been, how long did you stay and did you just stay there or did you add other nights elsewhere ? Is it worth it if you just go there ?

I was talking to my dd about Efteling & how it always gets really positive reviews. Dgd will be three in March so was thinking of going in May, is it possible to fly & use public transport or taxi to get to the park rather than drive? Any recommendations for best place to stay in the park & would three nights be to much?

We went for five nights and it was great. Could easily do a week.

Blatant place marking for tips! After I saw a thread about Efteling on MN a little while ago - I'm totally sold on going. We are in the early stages of planning a visit along with SIL's family. Dates are TBC and the DC's are currently 4, 2.5 and 18month so we are thinking the end of next year the youngest will be old enough to really get something out of it too! Had not heard of Duinrell but that looks good for the water park/slides! I might propose we include a day there into our itinerary.

Goneback2school · 07/11/2018 09:58

We went last June and loved it. To answer a few previous questions there is loads to do for smaller kids. Dd3 loved the carousels and playgrounds. We stayed in loonscheland and there is lovely water play area and even some farm animals. We took public transport from Schiphol airport- it's really easy to negotiate, we took a train from the airport then a bus took us to the front gate of the park.

How busy would it be end of July do you think? Would love to go but that or October half term would probably be our only option next year.

vandrew4 · 07/11/2018 13:01

looks fab but at least twice the price of Duirnell where we go for a week every year. can also use tesco clubcard for duirnell which makes it very cheap!

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 07/11/2018 13:06

End of July is likely to be busy. The Dutch schools have staggered summer holidays (in 3 blocks). But there is a fortnight in the middle where all the Dutch schools are on holiday. I think this will correspond to the end of July.

Onebiteofeverything · 09/11/2018 19:26

Would it be crazy during August? We can go anytime really June-December but it’s going to be a long 6 week summer holiday as DS childminder is term time only so I need to do something to break it up!

WeaselsRising · 09/11/2018 19:52

We went the last week of August. The Dutch had all gone back to school and it wasn't heaving.

Onemorefireball · 10/11/2018 17:49

I had never heard of efteling before, I think my dds would love it. I'm going to price up going there and duinrell in May half term.

Dollyandteddy · 10/11/2018 17:52

Has anyone gone at Christmas? We’re going and I’m a bit worried that we’re going to freeze and have a miserable time.

wizzywig · 10/11/2018 17:59

Would the christmas hols be a total no-no?

DontHarshMyMello · 10/11/2018 18:02

Does anyone have any tips for going? Like times of the day to go on popular rides, anything like that?
I am thinking of going next year Smile

OublietteBravo · 10/11/2018 18:48

We went at May half term this year. There were quite a lot of school parties, but the big rides got quieter from 15:30ish onwards.
