NCd.

Suspect it’s thrush as I’ve been up ten hours scratching ... GP surgery are saying no appointments til tomorrow and I can’t afford canesten sadly (waiting on student loan payment tomorrow). I’m very swollen, thick yellow discharge and bruised type feeling ... don’t think there’s anything I can do to calm it down at home is there until I can see a GP? As soon as money is in I’m going to pharmacy to buy canesten but would be good if there was something I could do today - struggling just sitting down! I’ve got sudocrem but not sure that will help at all ?

Natural yoghurt is meant to help

mummmy2017 · 06/11/2018 08:28

Have a warm bath and wash yourself.
Dip tampon in live yogurt... Yes it work's.

abirdinthefluff · 06/11/2018 08:35

I’ll get some yoghurt , I can probably afford that haha . I’ve a hospital appt this morning but don’t suppose they can prescribe anything sadly. It’s so bloody painful . I haven’t a bath either and I suspect that’s partly the problem , I thought sitting in the shower tray might help (shared shower) and now wondering if that’s the cause !!

Stop scratching! That'll be why you're swollen. Try turning the temp down to tepid on the shower and rinsing yourself down. Don't aim it inside obviously!

Branleuse · 06/11/2018 09:52

Flucanazole tablet is cheaper than the cream. Have you asked around your mates if anyone has any canesten ?

siakcaci · 06/11/2018 09:53

Phone the GP and request a prescription, you don't need an appointment for that

vampirethriller · 06/11/2018 09:54

Tea tree oil, couple of drops in a cup of water, give everything down there a good wash with it- works for me!

FickleFingers · 06/11/2018 09:54

You poor thing, I would be tempted to go to the Gp and explain in person to the receptionist exactly how much you are suffering.
I know our surgery keep some 'emergency' appointments back so it may be possible for them to squeeze you in today!
Have you made the appointment for tomorrow, make sure you do so you don't miss out on it just incase they definitely won't see you today Flowers

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 06/11/2018 09:55

Stop scratching! And is there a walk-in Sexual Health Clinic near you? They would be well able to help you with this - it doesn't have to be an STI to go there.

TOADfan · 06/11/2018 10:16

You can go to the chemist and ask for it on prescription under the minor ailments scheme and its free. Plus you don't need to see a doctor.

I feel for you nothing worse than a bad case of thrush.

boilingkettle · 06/11/2018 10:22

I kept getting thrush earlier this year, needed antibiotics eventually. I now think it was due to using coconut oil toilet roll! Switched back to normal unscented stuff and haven’t had a flare up since...

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 06/11/2018 10:32

The Boots or any other own brand version of the cream and tablet or pessary are about half the price of the named brand ones.

HollowTalk · 06/11/2018 10:36

OP, is there any way that could be an STI? That was my first thought when you described your symptoms.

sizzledrizz · 06/11/2018 10:40

Go to the pharmacist. Could also go to gp and ask to see nurse. Live yoghurt.

abirdinthefluff · 06/11/2018 14:15

I’ve managed to get a GP appointment thankfully . Suspect I possibly have a UTI too. No chance it’s an STI thankfully!

Boots and Superdrug do generic clotrimazole which is much cheaper than the canesten

abirdinthefluff · 06/11/2018 20:56

Have got thrush, and a UTI - so got a pessary plus cream, antibiotics, strong painkillers and anti emetics . Will sleep tonight I suspect!!
