Did it make it work better? What model? Can you just walk in to a store and get it done?
Personally, I think the robbing bastards should do it for free!

I had the battery replaced on my 6S and it was a huge improvement. I just walked into a cell phone repair store and they did it while I waited.

Who are the robbing bastards in your situation? How old is the phone? You'll get two years max out of any lithium battery, less if the phone is in heavy use and recharged overnight.

Apple 6s

How much did you pay?

Mine was done free of charge under the recall they had. I think it took a day.

SoupDragon · 05/11/2018 19:20

Mine had the "shut down" fault.

MissConductUS · 05/11/2018 19:22

I had mine done before the recall. It cost $55.

I just got the Xr. It's a brilliant upgrade from the 6s.

Go to an apple store

If under guarantee, it'll be free, if it's not, it's only a small fee

Do NOT go to these UNAUTHORIZED shops.offering to do it cheap .... They won't use correct replacements.

Batteries are consumables, even rechargeables. A 6s is three years old or so now? Battery needs replacing.

If you're having random shutdowns (only happens if you're daft enough to trip the "give me random shutdowns instead of putting a power-draw ceiling on my CPU" switch), or your battery lasts half a day, or it goes from 30% to 1% in five minutes - go book it in for a new one for £29 and you'll get another 2-3 years out of it.

If you have a 6 and the battery needs replacing, all Apple and Apple-approved stores are doing battery replacements for £25 (instead of £80) I think until the end of this year. This is to rectify a known issue. I got mine done and it was like having a new phone. Previously a full charge lasted one hour. Now it lasts ages.

MissConductUS · 05/11/2018 19:28

They won't use correct replacements.

The original batteries in iPhones are all made or rebranded by Foxcon, the company that actually makes the phones in China. Foxcon doesn't distribute them outside of Apple.

The replacement battery the shop put into my 6s was a Sanyo lithium, which is a perfectly fine battery.

On average you should be getting at least 1000 recharges from a battery.

However, if you prime your battery, it's possible to get 1,500 recharges.

At one charge a day that's (approx) 2.75 years or just over 4 years.

Google how to prime my phone battery, and you'll see tips on how to make each charge last longer, and thus battery last longer.

Trappedin · 06/11/2018 07:57

Run the battery check in settings. If it is failing it takes you through to book a Genius Bar appointment. Took under a hour. Cost £25.

Meet0nTheIedge · 06/11/2018 07:59

The £25 at Apple is only until December, then it goes back up to about £80 I think, so don't delay. Had mine done on my 4 year old 6 recently, its made a huge difference.
