My neighbour is setting off fireworks every night

So I have a neighbor and every single night from like 5:30 onwards he is setting off fireworks. This has been happening since a couple days before the clocks went back. It's doing my head in these don't seem very good quality he doesn't have a license. And also he lives in a residential area and I can hear them from my house which is a decent bit away (for example if I had a party the noise would have to be louder than a nightclub to be heard by the neighbours). The reason I here these is because they are so loud, he's setting them off in the bloody street not in his garden and like I said they aren't good quality. I'm pretty sure he's even set them off at a angle at times.
Now I can't even go and talk to this neighbour safely as he's constantly on the drink or High (weed is highly illegal here by the way the police freak out over the smallest amount). So what would you do in this situation. Please give me some advice before I run up there with a Knife block and well I'm sure you can work out what would happen from there

Have you called the Police when he is going this? Surely that is the place to start.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/11/2018 17:37

Doing not going!

doggylover2 · 05/11/2018 19:08

@ApolloandDaphne unfortunately this could be a very risky option this could end up in lit fireworks shoved through my fireworks. It's happened to other people in the area before most of the village is drunk or high 99% of the time

Blimey. I think I would just move!

Notquiteagandt · 05/11/2018 21:18

Around here it has been a constant stream of none stop fireworks from around 5 until 11 fri/sat/sun nights and tonight to.

Hopefully after tonight they will die down.

Whilst annoying im not sure there is alot you can do about it. Think environmental noise control would be better than the police.

As whilst annoying not sure what he is doing is illegal (unless ive missunderstood!)

Notquiteagandt · 05/11/2018 21:19

Just reread in street not garden. Ok yeah thats something totally differant and not on.

Seeline · 05/11/2018 21:23

From things in your OP, I assume you are not in the UK? Where are you?

doggylover2 · 05/11/2018 23:06

@Seeline I actually am from the U.K. not gonna say where for safety reasons because any random stranger can read this post without a MN account. Although my area isn't the best to be fair the only reason I still live here is because it's close to DD's school which is actually a amazing school

Are you in NI then? Don't need a fireworks licence anywhere else in the UK. I still think the police is the right place to start with this. Can't you contact them anonymously?

driveninsanebythehubby · 12/11/2018 06:49

Why do you think you would end up with fireworks through your letterbox if you reported him? How would he know that it was you?

Not being funny, but if 99% of the village really is drunk or high, I wouldn't care how close it was to a decent school - so you really want your child to be exposed to that sort of environment as being the norm? I would definitely move to a nicer area!

Good luck in sorting this arsehole out!
