Am I ruining my hair? & Haircut advice?

I have long hair, about midway down my back, but I don't really like wearing it down. If I have a special event or something, I will wear it down for a few hours, but the rest of the time I wear it up in a bun or bunch.

I've noticed that seem to be cultivating a patch of short, fine hairs a bit higher than my temples on either side of my head - and the patches are getting bigger.

Could it be that I'm putting stress on my hair by having it up all the time, and it's coming out at the root? Is that probable?

I really don't like my hair in my face, so if I'm destroying my hair by wearing it up I think I'll have to get it cut into a pixie or something. Anything too short to wear up and too long to get into my face is out.

I have an oval face that is prone to chubby cheeks when overweight.

Any advice gratefully received.

I imagine that putting your hair up all the time may put stress on it and pulling it back into a bun could too.

Do you have friends who could recommend a good hairdresser that you could go to for a consultation and advice about how to get your hair in good condition. I’ve found it very difficult to get reviews on hairdressers, so a personal recommendation is better.

Or do what I’ve done and ask someone whose hair and style you like, has their hair done.

Thanks, I'll do that. :)
