For me it's the month of snuggling up and resting before Christmas prep starts, but my friend finds it depressing- dark nights and damp cold- what does everyone else think of it?

I love it! Excitement starts for Christmas, lovely autumn feel still, you start having the heating on so it’s cosy, you start bringing out the comfort food classics.. great month!

Beaverfeaver2 · 07/11/2018 23:40

I love it. Just before the crazy Christmas build up but still autumnal and cosy.

And I'm getting married !

LoniceraJaponica · 07/11/2018 23:49

I am assuming that the Christmas excitement is from parents of small children?

Sadly, there are only three of us. DD is a teenager, and MIL is dying. I just can't get excited about Christmas any more.

maplebaconbun · 07/11/2018 23:55

I loveeee this time of year. I prefer being cold rather than hot. I like wearing layers and putting on socks and scarves. I like dark.

I can actually look decent rather than a sweaty mess. My makeup doesn't melt. I like cuddles in bed. In summer I throw DH off the bed coz I hate body heat !! So we get along more in winter LOL. I can sleep at night.

Also like the fact DS aged 6 goes to bed on time as it's already dark and I don't have to answer 21 questions "why do I have to sleep if the suns still up mummy?!". He also sleeps better in cooler weather so no more midnight wakes.

I'm really enjoying the colourful leaves 🍁 great photo opportunities in the park ! Anyway... I could go on.

I quite like the crisp air, crunchy leaves, bonfires etc. But these days it just feels like I haemorrhage money in November and it's really stressful.
We have so many birthdays this month and need to post Christmas presents abroad so it's a panic to get that done along with all the regular Christmas stuff.
My tiny house is filling up with boxes and I'm anticipating the usual PIL drama and tidal wave of crap that comes with Christmas and dreading it.

Basically, scrap Christmas and November would be great!

Delatron · 08/11/2018 11:19

I think it’s true that Christmas stress does start in November especially with Nov/Dec birthdays of family thrown in. I’m starting to get panicky. Definitely no time for snuggling under a cosy blanket here.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 08/11/2018 12:19

I really like November and December.

The autumn colours are beautiful, and the sunsets you get around 330/4ish around the winter solstice can be spectacular.

And I say this as someone who absolutely worships the sun and hot weather.

However January-May can fuck right off. Cold, depressing, MUDDY, nothing happens apart from constant disappointment that it's not warm or light.

ReginaPhalangee · 08/11/2018 12:20

I love it. Possibly my fave month of the year. Full of excitement and promise

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 08/11/2018 12:23

It's ok. Dh has his birthday as well as two other close family members. I use it as month to get the house sorted.

The only month I really dislike is February. Always have.

Viebienremplie · 08/11/2018 12:29

I like November, doing my Christmas prep, it's quite a social time in the run up to Christmas and also ok to stay in watching movies etc on the weekend if the weather is rubbish. Crisp, crunchy walks when the weather is good.

January and February can fuck off though, no Christmas to look forward to and that's when the cold and dark start to get to me as I'm fed up with it by then!

crochetmonkey74 · 08/11/2018 12:37

Absolutely love it. My favourite month. Beautiful colours, lots of leaves. I don't care if they're crisp or soggy. A chill in the air and yes, scarves and boots. Fairy lights starting to appear but not the onslaught of Christmas yet. I really feel alive at the moment.

Oh I love this description- I think November has the promise of something

Hate it.
Nov 1, 2, 3 anniversaries of the deaths of parents and aunt
Then mums birthday.
The cold and dark
I’m off to Tenerife next month
It’s like having a blood transfusion

Dowser · 08/11/2018 13:04

To compensate
Every room in my house is white with mainly white furniture

I don’t do cosy and snuggly, I want light and bright
I

LoniceraJaponica · 08/11/2018 18:19

I want light and bright as well. Not dark and dismal. I don't do cosy and snuggly either.

Christmas is the only time I regret having a small family. We are very scattered so it is always underwhelming and disappointing quiet and low key for us.

Juanbablo · 08/11/2018 19:00

I hate it. I'm permanently cold. It's windy and raining. Everyone tells you "it's too early to think about Christmas". November is crap.
