what do you think of November?

For me it's the month of snuggling up and resting before Christmas prep starts, but my friend finds it depressing- dark nights and damp cold- what does everyone else think of it?

I like it,we have Bonfire night, making the guy with the DC,fireworks and sparklers, toasting marshmallows, eating hotdogs, drinking luxuary hotchocolate(with mini marshmallows, cream and chocolate shavings on top)hot puddings to finish the night off.

I love cuddling up on the sofa with my DC watching Christmas movies, with the fire on,the lamp on and the candles lit getting excited for the build up to Christmas.

My least favourite month of the year. If someone is going to get ill in our family it’s always in November. Every single year...

Tinklewinkle · 05/11/2018 17:07

Absolutely hate it.

Once the clocks go back, I just find it so dark and depressing.

Once we get into January/February, I still hate it, but at least the we’ve passed the shortest day

anitagreen · 05/11/2018 17:08

I enjoy it it reminds me of being pregnant and feeling very festive and Christmas with my children. Now it's my sons second birthday next week and I'm looking forward to it , I enjoy the cold nights and fairy lights up everywhere x

Ceilingrose · 05/11/2018 17:24

It's a damn sight better than January and February!

LoniceraJaponica · 05/11/2018 17:25

“it is such a beautiful month with the leaves turning brown etc. October is wet and windy.”

Erm, haven’t you got the months the wrong way round?
October has colourful leaves, and this year we have enjoyed some lovely warm days. November is usually wet and windy, and most of the leaves have gone.
It’s my birthday month, but as my family don’t make a big deal of birthdays I don’t get excited about mine.

I’m with you Delatron Grin
We usually meet on threads like this. I don’t get the excitement of being constrained by several layers of clothing, imprisoned snuggled under a blanket, spending far too much time putting on several layers to go out etc. and WFT is the scarf excitement all about? And why the orgasmic enthusiasm for claustrophobic cosy?

Give me a lovely warm summer evening where all I need is a nice summer dress and a cold drink, watching the sunset. I prefer my limbs to be free.

“Golden light, crisp frosty mornings”

You are romanticising the sort of morning that is as rare as hen’s teeth where I live.
I hate winter.

AamdC · 05/11/2018 17:27

Its also my birthday in november which was exciting whenni was younger but a bit meh now i will be 45 Hmm

MamaHechtick · 05/11/2018 17:30

For me November is always a good luck month, good things that have happened to me have usually happened in November. Nothing so far for November this year but it fills me with hope.

mimibunz · 05/11/2018 17:34

November is ok as it’s the lead up to Christmas. It’s February and March that have the hateful cold. No beauty, just bare branches and unending sogginess.

MiddlingMum · 05/11/2018 17:38

November is the month we spend every spare moment of daylight in the garden, clearing up leaves. I love being surrounded by lots of trees but this is the result.

Not keen on fireworks but I like seeing just a few Christmas lights as the month goes on.

LoniceraJaponica · 05/11/2018 17:46

Yesterday was a good day for gardening wasn't it.

Babdoc · 05/11/2018 17:52

My worst month of the year. My DH died in November, the day before my birthday. I start getting depressed as soon as the clocks go back, and the strain of trying to pretend I’m enjoying my birthday is exhausting and awful, but I feel I have to fake it as my lovely adult DDs always go to town to try and make it a special day for me.

AnyFucker · 05/11/2018 17:54

I am sorry, babdoc Flowers

I quite like November.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 05/11/2018 18:00

Pretty much every person in my family managed to be born in November so it’s party month! Always the best time of year. 25 birthdays!!

Fishcakey · 05/11/2018 18:02

Love it! Birthday month here too. It's for fireworks, red wine, thinking about Christmas, I love it

Kintan · 05/11/2018 18:13

I'm a fan. I love the autumn colours, and the sense that nature is slowing down. Also I prefer autumn/winter clothes, and the commute is more bearable as the non air-conditioned trains aren't boiling hot like they were this past summer.

RedneckStumpy · 05/11/2018 18:19

I love it November means beautiful cool weather, the first snow. Pretty leaves.

It’s also deer hunting season so lots of time with family in the woods. Before sitting by the fire in the evenings

SoyDora · 05/11/2018 18:22

It’s fine, all months have their pros and cons! DD1’s birthday which is nice. I like bonfire night. I like it when the leaves change colour and I like long autumn walks.

JuniorDetective · 05/11/2018 18:24

I've been reading the witches thread for a few months and they see it as the new year, which makes total sense to me. Making me see November in a whole new light.

itssquidstella · 05/11/2018 18:30

I like it. It's autumnal and just starting to feel festive without the mega Christmas onslaught of December. Hot chocolate season!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 05/11/2018 18:32

Love the thought of it. All the colours, crisp frosty mornings, fires lit and the excitement of christmas coming...

In reality, I hate the dark evenings, the fucking fireworks drive my dog (and me) mad. I don't have an open fire anymore. Lost my job very recently so Christmas will be interesting.

Meh.

ForalltheSaints · 05/11/2018 18:48

Hate the early darkness.

The most important part of the month is November 11th, and this year I will be in Ypres.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 05/11/2018 19:24

I don't mind it. Bit of a 'prep' time. Winter tyres on, xmas light up outside (but not on) before the snow comes. Garden all tidy, caravan winterized.

Get my Big Coat out Grin. Woodburner on each night.

Start cooking pies and stews and mash. Christmas cake and pud being made

Start of Ski Season! Yay.

DinosApple · 05/11/2018 20:03

Another November birthday here so I quite enjoy it. The clothing suits me, the colours are beautiful, Christmas-y things start to happen, I enjoy the build up.

I also have my gaudy gold lamp on a lot in the evenings now and that brings me joy... Even if it is hideous Grin.

I try to find little things to enjoy in each season, it's especially necessary in the darker months.

PippaRabbit · 05/11/2018 20:11

I hate the short days when it gets dark early and I will never understand people who want to wrap themselves up in hats, scarves boots and layers of clothing nor snuggle under a blanket and drink hot chocolate. I'd rather be out in the fresh spring and look forward to warm summer weather. I hate fireworks as they alarm my animals and dread the snow. We get a fair bit of snow where I live and were snowed in on 3 different occasions last year. It's not fun at all - I count down the days until lighter nights and warmer weather.
