Hi, first thread posting. I've been following MN for a while as it seems to answer any dilemmas I have.
I was just wondering what everyone does about comparing to other people IYSWIM.
I mean family, friends, colleagues. Everyone. I'm constantly comparing the "this person has bought a house" "this person is doing this" etc.
I removed social media a few months ago which made me so much happier, but still I'm constantly wondering how other people do such amazing things when I can hardly afford my home!
Thank you.

I think you need to consider whether you are a happy person in yourself. Do you have a family, pets, hobbies etc? What other people think and do doesn't matter, we are so lucky in this country to have so many things that others don't, like water, toilets, safe homes etc, sometimes I think we need to put it in perspective. Nobody needs to keep up with the Joneses, appreciate what you have Smile

@VelociraptorRex I think you're definitely right. I have what I class as a family (DP and our two cats), a good job.
We have a roof over our heads (rented, so not our own) I think that's the main thing as people constantly comment that it's "not [our] home".
I work in a place I like but is full of people that brag about what they have which can be frustrating! But I definitely have a happy home life 😊

There you go then, what matters is your family not other families, enjoy what you have Smile
