Temperature of 40.8?

Should I been calling 111 to get him in to OOH? It's DH, doesn't do doctors etc just wants to rest and sleep it off, he's been vomiting this evening, had medication. When do I intervene? It's the highness of the temperature that's worrying me the most, he's boiling to touch.

Has he had paracetamol? I'd prob ring for advice.

WarlocksAreLocks · 04/11/2018 22:56

I have a high threshold for seeking advice but yes I'd get my kid seen with that temp

madeyemoodysmum · 04/11/2018 22:56

What r his other symptoms leading up
To the temp?

Flu
Viral
Stomach bug
Or has he had chest infection
urine infection
Other injury cuts bites ?

Does his temp
Come down with paracetamol and ibuprofen

My dh vomited with appendicitis pain
But he could stand straight and kept his legs bent etc which I recognised from an ex that had it too.

candlehigh · 04/11/2018 22:58

It's DH not my child, I'd be in hospital right now if it was DS.
He's had flu like symptoms today, I gave him some cold and flu capsules earlier but he vomited not long after.
Has had paracetamol through out the day

OP posts:
madeyemoodysmum · 04/11/2018 22:58

Sorry he could not stand up straight

ursuslemonade · 04/11/2018 22:59

That's extremely high, call 111.

madeyemoodysmum · 04/11/2018 23:00

Chances are it's flu and he needs to rest. Has he been in contact with anyone with flu?

but to be safe be aware of sepsis. Has he had any injuries recently that could have got infected.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 04/11/2018 23:03

That’s very high. I would phone 111 for advice

candlehigh · 04/11/2018 23:04

@madeyemoodysmum he's a carpenter he's always getting cuts and scrapes etc but nothing out of the ordinary
He had a last dose of tablets at around 8 even though he vomited soon after he can't have anymore that's correct isn't it?

thaegumathteth · 04/11/2018 23:06

Yes don’t double up and remember cold and flu capsules also have paracetamol in so be careful of dosage guidelines.

Is she shaking at all? What’s his pulse like? Resp rate?

LondonLassInTheCountry · 04/11/2018 23:06

Ring 111 for advice.

Any other medical conditions?

Thats very high... Does paracetamol bring the temp down at all?

candlehigh · 04/11/2018 23:08

I'm going to ring 111 Now. I did his heart rate on my Apple Watch and it was 107 not sure how accurate that is though

I think you need to get this checked. My husband had all same symptoms from a small cut - he was lucky to get to hospital when he did. He thought he just had flu too.

madeyemoodysmum · 04/11/2018 23:09

Check his hands for cuts that look infected

I'd try and check some more meds in him. It's been 3 hours now

But yes ring 911

HoleyCoMoley · 04/11/2018 23:10

That's a very high temperarure. Have you taken it recently. Do call for medical advise. Hope he feels better soon.

notangelinajolie · 04/11/2018 23:10
  1. My adult DC had similar temp and sickness a few days ago. They sent an ambulance - it turned out to be a severe kidney infection and Dr told us if we hadn't brought her in sepsis was a very high probability. On the mend but still in hospital on an IV drip 4 days later.
HoleyCoMoley · 04/11/2018 23:12

What medication has he has today and how much paracetamol including cold capsules.

donajimena · 04/11/2018 23:13

I don't want to alarm you but ask whoever you speak to 'could it be sepsis'?

shuthefrontdoor · 04/11/2018 23:14

Yes get some advice as soon as you can, that's very high for an adult. X

Yewnicorn · 04/11/2018 23:14

If pills aren’t bringing the temperature down it’s best to seek medical advice.

LondonLassInTheCountry · 04/11/2018 23:20

Has he peed much today?
Breathing faster?

Please ask at the hospital "Could it be sepsis?"

thaegumathteth · 04/11/2018 23:22

I’ve had sepsis recently . It was horrible and very sudden. My main symptoms were pulse 130+ , shaking uncontrollably, generalised muscle pain, panting and just feeling very unwell. Mine was from a kidney infection which I’d previously had zero symptoms of.

candlehigh · 04/11/2018 23:32

111 are getting a nurse to ring back as a matter of urgency she said if he changes at all between now and the call I'm to ring an ambulance Sad

How is he in himself?

Getting worse as the hours go on??
