Hotel help needed!

DH turns 40 over St Paddy's day weekend. I would love to take him to Gleneagles as we're based in Scotland so reasonable drive but it's just too expensive!

Any ideas for fabulous in Scotland or no more than a 3/4 hour drive from Glasgow? I want somewhere fabulous & the plan would be just the two of us

We had breakfast (July) watching a red squirrel and a woodpecker on the same piece of rope from our window!! Best weekend ever!

What about Mar Hall 10mins drive from Glasgow city centre.

I have heard amazing things about The Witchery in Edinburgh, but I don't think it's cheap.
