Stupid question but I'm confused

I have a post going on aibu but this is more a general question.

If you have applied for a job and been offered it and it states on your online application status 'hired' does this mean you have got the job.

Stupid question I know but as I have had two jobs offered to me I'm confused with all this online application stuff and don't want to turn job 1 down and not have a firm position to start work.

I'd say you've got it, have you been given a start date or have a meeting with them planned? If not I'd ring first thing in the morning asking for confirmation and start date etc.
