Emotional attachment to old CDs

I’ve got about a hundred CDs that I haven’t listened to in about 8 years...but I’m finding it really hard to get rid of them.

I listen to the radio and Spotify...

Anyone else got this problem? I’m not really a hoarder but books and cds are a weakness.

Yes, me. I have some that my late Grandma and Grandad bought me as presents Sad

Hold them. Do they spark joy? If yes keep. If not discard.

I still have mixtapes in like to gaze at but can't even play anymore!

Not me! Dp has an entire cupboard in the house full of them. I happily binned all of mine when we upgraded to modern technology, now use Spotify and a Bluetooth speaker.
We don’t even own a CD player yet he insists on keeping my valuable cupboard space cluttered up with his ugly junk.
He even suggested they could go on our lovely new shelves we have built and put in our front room Shock ugly cracked half broken chipped cases with booklets falling out in some cases Shock

I have just kept a few favourites to play in the car as I find the CD player easier to use than faffing with my phone as I only do short journeys

LightastheBreeze · 03/11/2018 22:06

DH insists on keeping all his though, there are hundreds cluttering up

They're not worth anything, so realistically you could recycle them?
They remind me of times, places and people. Going to gigs, listening to stuff, discovering bands and going on excursions to buy CDs on the day of release etc.

I couldn't part with mine. But they might get relegated to the loft when we move. We've got about 400 between us...

No, I find cds really soulless and happily chucked all of mine out. Books and records, on the other hand, I think are lovely objects and I have shelves full of them.

Many of mine do have some emotional attachment, especially those where I have met one or more of the artists on them, and the three with credits of family members on them.
