Looking for ideas of things to do in the evening. Spending a lot of time sitting on the sofa watching tv or on the Internet. Need to shirt my behind .

Hmmwhat it may seem grown up but we actually instituted SNB because DH used to come to bed, I'd be all comfy and falling asleep, and he'd turn over and go "do you think we need life insurance/are saving enough money/is DS in the right school/do we have a babysitter for next Friday/did you pay the gas bill" or some other similar question. So then I'd feel like he wanted an immediate response, I'd be tired and grumpy, wouldn't have thought about it, I'd then be awake again etc. Sometimes they'd be even bigger questions like "should we move house" or "I'm worried about x". Then he'd turn over and be out like a light, having offloaded his worry to me, and I'd be lying awake worrying!!!

So now I can say "hold that thought, save it for Sunday night!!" We usually do it over supper after the kids are in bed so it's not too onerous

Knit
Read a book if DH is watching something I am not interested in
Do jigsaw puzzles on ipad

Riddo · 04/11/2018 08:27

During the week I'm doing a few kids drop offs and pickups @ sports clubs, Scouts. Other days I'm at the gym (try at least twice a week), cinema once a fortnight, out with friends once a week

In the time left, I'm indoors tidying up, laundry etc. I work ft so eves are spent catching up. Tv is on catchup or Netflix. In the summer I'll be meeting friends more often or out on my bike.

Book group occasionally, rotating round the local country pubs, work (seasonal, WFH job), phone a friend, iron, read, this week starting as prompt for the village panto, box sets, mn, cinema sometimes. Difficult to motivate myself in the dark evenings but always glad I have!

Kids go to bed at 7pm so from 7:05 onwards it’s tv, maybe a glass of wine, sometimes a bit of Pilates.
If husband is home then we tend to lie on the bed and catch up, have some sex, watch a film.

All the housework gets done before the kids go to bed so evenings are leisure time.

Do you have any hobbies?

I love making jewellery with semi precious stones and I'm currently doing a garden design course at the moment because we want to put in a new pond in one section of our garden next year as part of a specific theme. I could happily spend hours and hours on these.

I do a pole fitness class, yoga, once a month I do hot yoga too. When it’s not too dark too early I do a six mile walk. I also knit and crochet. I read, and DP and I have a set list of TV we watch at the moment.

Stillwishihadabs · 04/11/2018 08:50

Like others my evenings are spent running around after dcs. Would love to get those 5-9 hours back. Would go to gym/ out for runs/cinema/dinner out. I'm sure I'll miss them

EscapeToTheMoon · 04/11/2018 08:53

Im only in one night during midweek as im out with one of the kids. Very sporty so lots of travelling. When there is no traveling to do i use the tinebto do boring stuff like clean the fridge, sort out cupboards, rummage through the wardrobe to see what i dont need. Or i go for a walk if its a dry evening.

My weekend is also taken up by travelling so i dont have much time to do stuff.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/11/2018 23:51

So you why did you ask what we do @Mayra1367

BackforGood · 05/11/2018 00:02

What do you like doing, OP ?
What do you belong t?
or, What would you like to belong to now your dc no longer need you watching them in the evenings ?

Do you want to learn to dance or join a choir? Play a sport or join a gym? Volunteer? Go to WI or TWG ? Join a Church or some other religion? Get a monthly pass to the cinema ? Study your family tree ? Do jigsaws ? Learn to cook ? Do a wine tasting course ? Go swimming ? Do some kind of voluntary stuff you can do from home - doing the books for your local Scout Group or Playgroup maybe, or acting as a befriender for any one of numerous charities that work with people who would otherwise be lonely ?
There's literally thousands of things you could do - could you rule some suggestions out and maybe give us an idea of what sorts of things you might like ?
