They are dry, cracked and bloody sore.

Vaseline with aloe vera aint doing anything, if anything they feel worse.

What do you use/recommend?

Carmex

FruminousBandersnatch · 03/11/2018 18:50

The reason Vaseline doesn’t work is because it’s a barrier cream not a moisturiser. And it’s petroleum based so dries the skin.

I use a home made concoction of beeswax and coconut oil.

Oh, and drink lots of water. Chapped lips are a sign if dehydration

Awks · 03/11/2018 18:57

I Keefes gorilla balm - in Sainsbury's at £3.50. Seriously it is the best thing ever - just looks shite. www.google.co.uk/search?q=o%27keeffe%27s+lip+repair&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#lbl=OVERVIEW&pie=plaji-i

AwkwardSquad · 03/11/2018 18:57

Hurraw lip balm is good - natural ingredients, very moisturising. Better than Burt’s Bees and more convenient than the Nuxe one.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 03/11/2018 18:57

The Nutritic lip balm from La Roche Posay. My husband suffers terribly from dry lips at times and swears by it.

HappyEverIftar · 03/11/2018 19:03

Carmex. And it's like £2.99 from Boots. It's all I use.

worriedaf · 03/11/2018 19:05

Benefit benebalm if you want some colour too;
Nuxe Reve De Miel;
but my favourite ever (it’s a miracle!) is the Dr Organics Coconut lip serum. I get them from Holland and Barrett and keep a few in different places (car, purse, bedside table, work). It’s amazing.

WeeDangerousSpike · 03/11/2018 19:06

Blistex. It takes the burning feeling out straight away, and heals it up really quickly.

MrsRubyMonday · 03/11/2018 19:09

A fairly thick layer of bepanthen overnight is the only thing that helps my lips. I use carmex in the day because it looks less weird but bepanthen every night.

Heismyopendoor · 03/11/2018 19:12

I love Carmex. It has to be the stick one for my though, I don’t like the one in the pot or the tube.

You can get the stick one from home bargains for under £2

Mishappening · 03/11/2018 19:13

Lanolips - costly but effective.

InterstellarScreamingElla · 03/11/2018 19:18

Carmex in the yellow squeeze tube with red lid is working a treat for my lips. I normally suffer really badly with sore lips but this seems to be keeping it at bay.

Liz38 · 03/11/2018 19:19

Blistex! Amazing stuff.

fluffertothegentry · 03/11/2018 19:36

Kamillosan - the only stuff that works properly for me.

cheesymashandbeans · 03/11/2018 19:47

Definitely burts bees .. the one where the lid is the same colour as the tube.. it's excellent and doesn't leave a greasy film on your lips. Even my husband always has one in his pocket!

Also to use along side for a bit of colour, their coloured lip balms a nice ... the ones in the really thin tubes

BrokenMachine · 03/11/2018 20:17

I sound odd but me and my DD get awful dry lips that spreads upwards making us look a little bit like the joker, I put bepanthen on us!

TheFormerMrsPugwash · 03/11/2018 20:18

Carmex if nothing better is on offer. Otherwise Blistex. I suffer terribly, and love the stuff.

TheFormerMrsPugwash · 03/11/2018 20:20

To be a bit more specific: I use the yellow tube/red top Carmex every night, without fail. But Blistex is really better, and I use that during the day when a night-time dose of Carmex isn't enough.

SpacePenguin · 03/11/2018 20:29

Another vote for Lansinoh or the generic Boots equivalent. Absolute magic. Use it on hands and feet too to heal cravued skin.

puppymouse · 03/11/2018 20:52

Carmex original in the yellow tube with red lid. DH and I both use after each time we brush our teeth and no issues even in depths of winter.

Pinkyyy · 03/11/2018 21:00

A good lip scrub will do wonders for chapped lips because it will get all the dead bits off and smooth them out. Use the scrub and then a lip balm straight after to keep them hydrated and prevent more chapping
