MN Law decrees that all owners of personalised numberplate on their car must be twats
They also have more money than sense and are quite likely to also be rubbish at driving, and park in Blue Badge spaces on Thursday afternoons.
I love my Plate, I like the fact that I've had the same number on various cars for over 20 years.

And...
I touch raw chicken without afterwards soaking my hands in strong bleach for 10 minutes.
I also have a loo brush.

Are you a MN sheep, or a goat?

There's a regular, very well respected poster on the DIY threads who insists everyone should have free standing kitchen appliances - don't get me wrong - on pretty much everything else I agree with this poster - but really ? Integrated appliances are soooo much neater, quieter and easier to clean around.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/11/2018 08:57

Don't go to A&E unless you are already dead.

Adnerb95 · 03/11/2018 08:58

I don't get the ' terribly offended by wedding invite' crap.

If you've been invited to the ceremony (you know, the actually most important bit!) and then the evening do, that justifies a major tantrum on MN.

How dare the Bride and Groom not invite everyone they would like to be part of their special day to the whole shebang, even when they are operating on a really tight budget?

Nah, don't get it. What a hardship - attend a lovely ceremony for people who you presumably have at least a passing regard for (otherwise why were you invited?), pop home/explore a new town/ get a coffee and a snack or do some shopping and then go onto a lovely evening laid on for your entertainment. It should be a pleasure.

That you are unthinkable and grabby if you express concern or disappointment that your parents are not leaving equal inheritance to you and your siblings.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/11/2018 09:01

That size 12 is fat. HA!

That if you have flu you are too ill to pick up your phone and mumsnet. But if you have a cold you able to carry on as normal and if you rest you are a shirker.

itsaboojum · 03/11/2018 09:03

My least favourite strands of MN Law are.....

  1. OPs' versions of events must never be questioned.
  1. Contributors are only considered "supportive" when they agree 100%.
  1. Gender based double standards.
  1. Nobody should be expected to accept responsibility for the cost of raising their own children.
  1. It doesn’t matter if you can’t handle the truth: you can always shut everyone else up by calling them "passive aggressive" and stick your head back in the sand.
pictish · 03/11/2018 09:04

Yes...that size 12 is fat...fuck off.
It’s ‘fat’ if you have a slender, petite or willowy build by sheer good fortune and/or genetics. Other than that it’s an average, healthy size for a normal grown British woman to be. Shut up.

Alaaya · 03/11/2018 09:05

@SpaceCannotBeLeftBlank - ha! Definite proof that there isn't a MN consensus as I just posted the opposite here. Grin

JamAtkins · 03/11/2018 09:06

I think greyhounds are too big

I think cash is an acceptable wedding gift

I think you should give gifts for weddings and family birthday Christmas etc and it’s not grabby to expect one

I think people with property/cash owning parents should have a reasonable expectation of fair inheritance

I think families should put themselves out to help each other and it’s not entitled to expect a bit of childcare/help with diy etc

I think it’s fine to make as hoc social calls without invitation

southeastdweller · 03/11/2018 09:07

'There's nothing worth reading in the Daily Mail rag' is something I don't agree with. Expect to be hung, drawn and quartered here if you admit to reading it

oldbirdy · 03/11/2018 09:10

That there is always another woman if your DH is off sex/ taking exercise/ a bit grumpy

That you need to go no contact with any relative who is a drain on you.

That "no" is a complete sentence thing. It is still pretty rude as an answer to a request, leading to the other classic mumsnet "did you mean to be so rude?" (Which I would also never use, since I dislike confrontation for it's own sake and believe in my Granny's phrase "least said, soonest mended").

cafenoirbiscuit · 03/11/2018 09:10

Parent and baby parking is a Bad Thing, and that anyone with the temerity to use one is a Special Smowflake.

Anyone who has tried to get a sleeping 3 month old baby in their baby carrier out via a 6” gap between their car and the next one surely must yearn for the extra width, surely ..... surely ..... (gets coat and leaves...)

BruceAndNosh · 03/11/2018 09:10

OP here...
Seriously, explain to me why having a certain number plate marks you out as a twat.

OP posts:
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/11/2018 09:11

My MIL is completely fabulous. She has a personalised registration plate and is not a twat in the slightest.

We have a loo brush it's DH's

HerSymphonyAndSong · 03/11/2018 09:12

Hadenoughofallthis and Adnerb95 have posted opposite opinions! Which one is the prevailing one on mumsnet??

HerSymphonyAndSong · 03/11/2018 09:13

Or maybe, everyone likes to think they are different, but we all have elements of following the crowd, and sometimes things are common sense

SheSparkles · 03/11/2018 09:14

I have a personal plate, and even better, it’s on my Audi, that must make me twat of the year on MN.
I think I can live with it 😂

Neshoma · 03/11/2018 09:14

They won't take their husband surname coz they are fair too equal for that:

But have the biggest engagement ring
Must marry in a church (they've never stepped foot in)
Must marry in white

BruceAndNosh · 03/11/2018 09:14

And if anyone checks my posting history for evidence of my twattishness, I'll admit to having 2 main MN usernames.
Real "nice" me uses the other one, and I reserve BruceAndNosh for my more twattish witterings!

Oh loads. Particularly the diet threads which are actually full of disordered eaters.

Aaaahfuck · 03/11/2018 09:15

There's definitely a predominance of certain opinions if not a consensus. To me lots of the views are very inflexible and don't seem to take into account the real world. But perhaps their word is just different to mine!

DeltaG · 03/11/2018 09:15

That if you don't EBF your child until they are at least 21, you're an inferior mother and have failed them. Also that the low BF rate in the UK is akin to some sort of national crisis that needs addressing immediately 🙄

TooMuchTidying · 03/11/2018 09:16

If you don't want something ruined by your guests then you should 'put it away' before they arrive...because everyone lives in palatial sprawling estates with wings of empty rooms in which to store things...

sossages · 03/11/2018 09:19

That Parent and Child parking is a special favour to the parents of small children. It's not (well, it is a bit), it's a special favour to those of us who don't want to park next to someone who's juggling three toddlers and doesn't have enough sets of eyes and arms to make sure they don't bash the doors into the next car along. People who complain about these spaces clearly don't like their own cars very much.

But what do I know. I own a toilet brush and have spent many hours knocking on the doors of strangers at election time.

Cutietips · 03/11/2018 09:19

I agree with cash as a wedding gift and think it’s sensible and not grabby.

I have loo brushes.

I don’t think people over 50 are old and behave any more universally than any other age group.

I think it’s okay for grandparents to want to see their grandchildren

I don’t think things (like affairs) are automatically none of my business, particularly if one person’s bad behaviour impacts on someone I love.

I don’t think people have zero obligation to be fair with wills involving their children or grandchildren. They should take into account the emotional fallout and hurt caused.

I don’t think people at work should have to be treated like children just because someone’s their boss. I believe in mutual respect provided people are doing their work. But that’s why I could never work in an office again.
