MN Law decrees that all owners of personalised numberplate on their car must be twats
They also have more money than sense and are quite likely to also be rubbish at driving, and park in Blue Badge spaces on Thursday afternoons.
I love my Plate, I like the fact that I've had the same number on various cars for over 20 years.

And...
I touch raw chicken without afterwards soaking my hands in strong bleach for 10 minutes.
I also have a loo brush.

Are you a MN sheep, or a goat?

OP posts:
Annandale · 03/11/2018 08:30

I've been here for 14 years and it's changed a fair bit. I think i'm very much an MN sheep, i'm exactly the person people think of when they mention (usually disparagingly) 'Mumsnet mummies' and so i know what a crock that is.

I knock on people's doors unexpectedly and i don't regard an 'emotional affair' as infidelity. I don't think infidelity that you had no idea about is a reason on its own to break up. I also think a lot of children benefit from their parents staying together even if miserable. So that's not the standard MN view i guess, or not always.

That wedding gift lists or asking for money is grabby. I’m generally going to a wedding because I like at least one of the couple, and am happy for them. I don’t care what form they’d prefer my £30 gift in, and am fine with complying with what they’d like.

Birdsgottafly · 03/11/2018 08:31

"I disagree that anything on MN is universally accepted"

There's definitely a concensus.

Never found a consensus MN.

fessmess · 03/11/2018 08:32

That greyhounds always make an ideal pet. 😂

Believeitornot · 03/11/2018 08:32

There's definitely a concensus

This thread has demonstrated not.

The only consensus I’ve seen are ones which exist in real life. Not solely on MN.

JingsMahBucket · 03/11/2018 08:32

Based on a current thread I’m on, I wholly disagree with the nutsos who unilaterally declare that you should NEVER EVER be on your phone at work upon penalty of death or job loss!! Or whichever draconian/Dickensian punishment comes first. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2018 08:32

I have never found a consensus, there's always a mix. Confused People have a range of opinions same as in RL.

Alaaya · 03/11/2018 08:33

I find the whole MN line on infidelity very weird, especially the conviction on the relationship boards that there is one way and one way only to save a relationship after an affair - cheater takes full responsibility for affair, it is never a symptom of anything else that is wrong, cheated on party can do no wrong indefinitely while working through her feelings over whatever time period (could be years), cheater must break all contact with OW, no matter what the cost (lost job, massive social disruption) and act like a medieval penitent forever. OW is not even human and should have a scarlet letter tattooed to her face.

It's the complete opposite of how DH and I dealt with an affair of his many years ago. I'm pretty certain if we had followed the MN play book we'd be divorced. But if you suggest any alternative you get very aggressively shouted down.

clarinsgirl · 03/11/2018 08:33

Ham is not naice. Ever.

Lweji · 03/11/2018 08:35

Never found a consensus MN.

Me neither. But it seems that even this isn't consensual. Grin

There's the odd thread where everyone agrees, but like Godwin's Law, give it enough length and someone will post a contrary opinion.
There should be a name for it.

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 03/11/2018 08:38

If you're cheeky enough to invite people out somewhere you must pay for absolutely everything!!

That it's unacceptable to ask people to pay for drinks at a wedding

That is weird for people to be responsible for their own laundry. Apparently it's a job that should be allocated to one person and if you don't do your partner's washing you're being mean.

Birdsgottafly · 03/11/2018 08:40

If a SAH Mum, or pregnant under 25, starts a thread, the majority will be critical, especially if that said poster didn't go to Uni first.

There is a level of cray-cray on here about all that I listed.

I think it's getting more reasonable, when I first joined, there were posters who took a while to understand that the North and WC were actually real and not some made up fable.

That doesn't actually disprove it, you know? WinkGrin

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2018 08:44

I haven't seen a lot of threads about personalised number plates TBF.

Birdsgottafly · 03/11/2018 08:47

Lweji, tbh, I've been the poster to throw in a completely different opinion, on page 2, because I've read it and thought "what fucking planet do you all live on"?

There's been threads by SAHM who are in abusive relationships that have been appalling.

Birdsgottafly · 03/11/2018 08:48

Sparklingbrook you've missed a lot of threads, then.

pictish · 03/11/2018 08:49

I say ‘hubby’ and so do lots of people I know. I couldn’t give a toss that mumsnet does its collective nut about it.

Hubby hubby hubby!

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2018 08:50

Seems so.Birdsgottafly, I am pretty quick on the Hide Thread button and have a lot of topics hidden. But I haven't seen a thread about personalised number plates for a long time.

Hadenoughofallthis · 03/11/2018 08:50

That a wedding is "the bride and groom's day" and they are perfectly entitled to upset and offend any of their extended family and friends they want by precious demands and bans on attendance.

I do think personalised number plates are the mark of a twat though OP, sorry. I’m sure you’re very nice but your number plate tells the world something else.

GinIsIn · 03/11/2018 08:52

I don’t know - everyone I’ve every met with a personalised number plate HAS been a twat, to be fair.

The rest, not so much.

TetherEnding · 03/11/2018 08:54

Bayswater Mulberry bags and Galway Dubarry boots are both total and utter style failures.

brizzledrizzle · 03/11/2018 08:55

That if your child is tall, it’s because you’re feeding them too much

That certainly can be the case as overweight children do tend to have a prospensity to growing taller than their peers but it's by no means universal. I have a 6 foot tall, skinny as a rake, young teenager but also am aware of a couple of younger children who are head and shoulders above their peers whilst having a weight that is appropriate for children about 4-5 years older.
