I've been craving cheese toasties for ages so I got a toastie maker from Asda, now I'm thinking of all the possibilities to put in!

What's yours?

I do an egg whisked up with grated cheese and either ham or bacon. It's amazing!

SputnikBear · 02/11/2018 21:57

Bacon and banana - together. Don't knock it til you've tried it!
Bacon, banana and peanut butter. Otherwise known as “the Elvis”.

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 02/11/2018 21:59

Diced apple and cinnamon

sheet82 · 02/11/2018 22:01

Marinated chicken tikka pieces (pre cooked) cheese and red onion

buckeejit · 02/11/2018 22:12

Ooh, I was just thinking of getting out the panini press. I'm excited to try some of these! Usually stick to cheese/ham but loved banana as a child & banana & peanut butter toasted should be sought to go down well.

I'm thinking cheese & ham with the outside of the bread dipped in egg could work?

ApolloandDaphne · 02/11/2018 22:19

If we are talking panini rather than toastie then it would be mozzarella, pesto and tomato.

buckeejit · 02/11/2018 22:56

I just use normal bread in the panini press -toastie without the grooves & easier to clean

BotBotticelli · 02/11/2018 22:59

A raw egg!! I didn’t believe it would work either but it’s awesome: put the bottom slice of bread in (buttered side down), crack a raw egg in the middle and quickly whack the top bit of bread on before the egg can slop out everywhere.

The egg cooks inside the toastie - all the benefits of a fried egg sarnie but much more healthy. Try it!!

Omg this is making my mouth water. I love toasters but refuse to buy the machine as I would live off them.

I'm boring - vintage mature cheddar with a good pickle on the side failing that ham & cheese yummy

JanetLovesJason · 02/11/2018 23:49

Baked beans and cheese, obviously! Heaven.

CakeNinja · 03/11/2018 21:45

I’m quite boring, extra strong cheddar and red onion. Some grated mozzarella for some extra stringiness (it has to be the pre grated stuff as otherwise the fresh stuff is too wet).
Saying that, we bought a toastie maker about 10 years ago, used it for about 3 months, could never work out how to clean the springy metal bit at the back as it couldn’t be washed in an obvious way so we got rid of it and have never owned one since.
I tend to use the hot plate but on our hob instead and it works even better to avoid that dry nasty crusty edge!

Pixie2015 · 03/11/2018 21:51

Cornbeef and HP
Cheese and tomatoe

Love a toastie

Meet0nTheIedge · 03/11/2018 21:53

Cheese and thinly sliced raw leeks. Oniony flavour but milder. Nice in normal cheese sandwiches too.

Cheddar cheese and english mustard (or marmite).
