DD is obsessed! Trying to find something child friendly.

How old?

pressedlemon · 02/11/2018 18:48

There is a Disney film called zombies I think. It's really good, not scary

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/11/2018 18:48

Sorry I posted early. She’s 4, but could be aimed for slightly older.

ParaNorman, might be a bit scary for very small dc though.

Boatsnack3 · 02/11/2018 18:49

There's a new one on sky just now called zombillenium it's about a theme park run by monsters it was ok not too scary.

thereallochnessmonster · 02/11/2018 18:49

Surely that’s an oxymoron? How can a 4yo be ‘obsessed’ by zombies?!

WhenEnoughIsEnough · 02/11/2018 18:51

Coraline is a bit zombie like, they have buttons eyes if I remember correctly.

What about corpse bride?

I can't confirm that either of them are actually age appropriate because I haven't seen them in years.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/11/2018 18:58

She’s seen Coraline, Corpse Bride, NBC, Paranorman, Goosebumps, Pirates of the Caribbean.

I take it Hotel Transylvania won't cut it?

(The ones you mention she's seen would scare the shit out of my seven year old! Grin)

DaysofWineandNeurosis · 02/11/2018 19:02

No idea how age appropriate as I’ve not seen it but I keep seeing adverts for Hotel Transylvania 3, which looks like a kids movie with classic monsters so there might be a zombie in it. Certainly a mummy and vampires. I assume there were also Hotel Transylvanias 1 and 2. 😆

PawneeParksDept · 02/11/2018 19:03

I saw the thread title thought the child was a lot older and had a few to recommend. Not sure I'd recommend any of them to a 4 yo though!

Getoffthetableplease · 02/11/2018 19:06

Have you been on commonsensemedia.org? If you type 'zombies' in the search bar and filter it to films then it should show you a load with suggested age rating and details of content etc. I find it an invaluable site generally when trying to decide what to watch with the kids. It's hard to suggest anything off the cuff because it sounds like your DD is nails - some of those like Coraline and Paranorman freak me right out!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/11/2018 19:12

I think I watched too much walking dead with her when I was on maternity leave Grin

She’s a real Wednesday Adams.
We’ve gone for Zombillenium!

Hocus Pocus?

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/11/2018 19:28

Hocus pocus has been done! That was one of the first ones I got her to watch Grin

Disney's Frankenweenie?

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 02/11/2018 19:32

My neice loves nightmare before Xmas if that cuts it.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/11/2018 19:34

Haven’t seen frankenweenie yet but haven’t got it available. Nightmare before Christmas is a fave here, even with my whimpy son!
We’ve put paranorman on again, but she’s complaining it’s not scary enough.

OP posts:
IceRebel · 02/11/2018 19:38

Frankenweenie was also directed by Tim Burton so if she loves Corpse Bride and Nightmare before Christmas it could be a winner.

Processedpea · 02/11/2018 19:40

sooty does evil dead 2

MamaLovesMango · 02/11/2018 19:40

My DD loves films like these when she was 3 and 4. Coralline was a form favourite despite scaring me shitless! I guess they see things in a different way... I also remember being obsessed with spooky stuff around the same age...

She’s almost 6 now and everything scares her Hmm

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/11/2018 19:42

I’m really interested to see how far I can push her but obviously don’t want to actually scare her Grin
