How to find super cheap lodgings for work

I'm having to work near Bourneville In the new year for a couple of months doing really unsociable shifts 7-4 and 3-11 and I don't drive. Public transport is a bit pants for getting there early n the morning and getting back late, so I've been looking at Airbnb.

Are there alternatives? How do I find lodgings or a room in a house. I have no idea where to start looking.

airbnb do rooms in houses, often with shared facilities but quite comfy by all accounts.
