My friend always gets money off, stuff refunded, vouchers etc when she complains.

I have had to complain a couple of times about things this year and all I get is “sorry you were disappointed”

Same with subscription renewals etc, dp will phone up and say “I want to cancel, this is too much” and get 3 months free, or half price for the year etc. I do it and they say ok we’ll cancel that for you.

Is there a trick to it??

I don’t know, because I’m like you! I’ve even failed to return something damaged to marks and Spencer’s, just got shrugged at.

When you complain you tell them what you want them to do to rectify it. So when you call up Sky and say its too expensive tell them you want a discount to compensate for it. They're not going to offer freebies if you you don't ask for it.

Like others have said, you need to be specific about what you want. Going in with vague annoyances isn't going to get you anywhere.
