Will I be able to buy a man's coat in Birmingham airport?

We're goint to Belfast and ds (15) has agreed to 'let' me buy him a coat. First one in about 3 years, because I don't want him pretending he's tough but shivering and being grumpy when we're sightseeing.

Will there be any in the airport shops - short black jacket (he's Large as a rugby build) or should I grab something from a supermarket on the way in?

IIRC there's a Next airside now, but I didn't look at the men's section so can't comment on choice.

I'd be tempted to hedge my bets and try to get to the supermarket I think.

Here’s a list of airport shops, it looks like you may be able to but clothing isn’t something I’ve ever really looked for there so I don’t know how wide a range they stock.

I'm pretty sure there's a FatFace and a Superdry there, but can't recall much beyond that for clothing. They're not big branches though. How much spare time do you have? Resorts World is v close by, and there are more shops there.

There are shops in Belfast u know

AlecTrevelyan006 · 02/11/2018 10:27

There’s also running water, electricity, motorised vehicles and all sorts of modern stuff :)

peridito · 02/11/2018 10:30

If you're going through Birmingham railway station they've masses of shops .

BowTieBaby · 02/11/2018 10:31

There’s a Next and a Superdry

bonfireheart · 02/11/2018 10:31

We attempted this for DD10 when we went to Spain. The shops at BHX are very limited so we ended buying a jacket in Spain.

Conundrumidium · 02/11/2018 10:31

There’s a next and a superdry at the airport. If you’re going via new street there are loads there.

There are also shops in Belfast.

And if you buy him a coat in Belfast whenever he wears it, it will remind if the wonderful time he had there

hypnotizzz · 02/11/2018 12:08

Thanks everyone. I know there are shops in Belfast! (hope they sell food too otherwise we're going to be pretty hungry).

We're only going for a short visit, and staying somewhere rural so I didn't want to waste valuable time clothes shopping rather than sightseeing.

Buy a coat: probably.
Buy a coat to suit a fussy teen: unlikely.

@CanYouHearThePeopleSing Last time I went to Resorts World I almost had to remortgage the house to afford the parking Grin If you spend over £20 you get a parking chit, but if OP parks there and doesn't find what she wants she'll get stung - IIRC it's £15 for 2 hours or more!

CanYouHearThePeopleSing · 03/11/2018 18:49

Ah yes - hadn't thought of that. The parking there is eyewatering! I was trying to work out if you can get there on foot from the airport, but I think it's separate from the NEC?

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 03/11/2018 18:53

Online order before? ASOS have a big selection, next day delivery and free returns.

If you’re from the south of England, you’ll find Belfast colder. Even if you do go into the city to go shopping, the main shopping centre (Victoria Square) is one of those ones that doesn’t have doors, it’s like a street with a roof. It somehow manages to funnel icy cold wind through it. Confused
