8 week old vomiting what’s normal?

My 8 week old has had a change in sleeping/feeding routine due to a sudden move abroad. We got here 36 hours ago and since last night he has been vomiting every feed. It’s not posseting but it’s not retching/gagging either. He is just bringing up large amounts of breast milk after each feed and smiling afterwards.

He doesn’t seem ill and doesn’t have a temperature but he has never vomited this much. His stomach must be empty.

Is it likely to be a bug? Or just a change in routine? My diet has not changed massively.

My DH thinks it might be the air conditioning

Where have you moved to? I would get to the local ER. At 8 weeks if it's an infection it needs to be seen to right away.

What are his nappies like?

Nappies are normal. Breast milk poo. Maybe a bit brown.

What is proper baby vomiting like? Is it projectile? His is not projectile.

Nappies normal and wet implies no dehydration some must be going in.

If you're not sure, bear in mind you know him best, trust your instinct and get it checked out.

But what’s normal vomiting in a baby and what’s ill vomiting?

He’s not retching, it doesn’t seem unpleasant for him, and it’s only after feeds. But there’s a lot coming out.

Are you winding him after feeds? My 4 month old is EBF and vomited loads yesterday after I fed him because he guzzled loads, didn’t burp and then I was bouncing him on my knee.

If he’s having wet nappies as normal and doesn’t appear to be in any discomfort then personally I would just wait it out and see how he was tomorrow.

If it's very hot there he might be feeding much more than usual, subsequently throwing up because he's stuffed himself. But I would always seek medical advice if any behaviour was abnormal for such a small baby.
