Semma4 in Maidstone. 01622 686 515. Cadet suppliers. They do mail order if you're not in Kent.

DH (SI with cadets) says to ask Platoon Commander for recommendation of local surplus store, or whether they act as reps for the Cadet Kit Store (boots are apparently £29.99 plus vat) as his do.

Otherwise Google your local surplus store and get German Para Boots.

He says to ask in platoon if there's a local in-service date for brown boots (rather than black). If it's far enough away that your DC will grow in the interim then go for black boots because they're cheaper, more easily available and easier to polish.

I haven't seen a decent local surplus store in a while. They may still exist somewhere. If buying online I suggest ebay or cadet kit shop. I wouldn't advise cadet direct as their customer service is very poor.

The ACF have been in brown boots for years. Most units aren't too precious about wearing black or brown but if buying a new pair, you might as well buy brown. Always buy an inexpensive pair of boots at first as your son may decide he doesn't like it in a couple of months. Bear in mind that cheap boots don't last though and in a couple of years he will want something better.

If you're in Wilts, there's an excellent army surplus stall in Devizes market hall that might have some.
