Changing my surname - who do I need to tell?

Not getting married and not a huge name change, just dropping my actual surname and using my middle name as my surname instead.

The one thing stopping me right now? Trying to think of all the institutions I need to notify and the impact it might have....

Can anyone who's done this help me make a list?

Bank
Passport office
DVLA
HMRC
....?

And might there be any unexpected surprises / issues once I've done it that I should be thinking about now?

Have a look at the married name change lists online. You'll need to tell them all as well.

Pension, clubs, societies, associations you belong to. Council.

I finally got round to changing my name after nearly 20 years of marriage. That caused some odd conversations.

When you send off for the documentation they send you a list, just follow that and tick them off Smile

Work, they will usually have a form to complete and depending on your organisation should also ask for proof (presumably you are doing it via deep pole), mobile, all utilities, bank, tv licence, driving licence, car ownership if applicable (nor sure if DVLA can do this online maybe?) passport, life insurance, pension(s).

Go through your wallet! Credit cards, store cards, loyalty cards (those aren’t urgent though).

Remember to do it via the free deed poll site.
