Moving house & broadband

I think the lovely BT are going to take a month to move our broadband from current house to the next one. I couldn't book it early because we are in rented and weren't sure when the move was going to happen.

What're your experiences of the speed of getting broadband moved? I'm considering cancelling and signing up with a new supplier and see if they'll pay towards the cancellation.

Otherwise how the hell do we survive a month without it?!! Put everyone onto unlimited data for the month (even though there's not 4g at the new house)

Sorry Chip but i don't know anyone who hasn't been without broadband for at least 3 weeks after moving house, whether new build or existing. Its so ridiculous in this day and age, when the engineer doesn't even have to come out to the property that they still have such a long wait to effectively flip a switch! It was the same when we switched to a totally new phone number and new provider! They can't (or won't) do it quickly

When I moved, the broadband went off at the old property and connected at the new house the next day, I had less then 24 hrs being offline. I was with nowtv and the old owners had sky broadband (nowtv use sky’s ‘network’) so I didn’t need an engineer to visit or anything like that.

Ours was suppose to be a smooth switch with bt, a month later they still hadn't cancelled at the old place and couldn't activate it in the new place because a system error was causing it to keep cancelling the engineer visit or something ridiculous Hmm several complaints including to the executive complaints team who still didn't resolve it and kept saying they would ring back and never did, we switched to ee, got it set up in a week. In the i between we used 4g router!

They tried to do it to me. I used ceo and emailed the CEO. His PA was in touch within 48 hours and sorted it out within 3 days. Was fab!

What did they sort Janet ?
