Good movies to watch as a family

DP and DD (age 7) have recently decided to do a movie night each week, where we all put an idea for what we want to watch in a hat, then pick one each week to watch together. DP and DD seem to have quite a few ideas but I’m at a loss as to what to choose. Can anyone please recommend movies you enjoyed as a family, but pref not animated/cartoon type stuff? Thank you!

Forgot to say, we’ve so far seen Peter Pan, Jurassic Park, White Chicks, Lego Movie, Shrek, Cinderella, Alice Through The Looking Glass...

101 Dalmatians
Annie
Madeline
Fly Away Home
Secret Garden
Paulie
Charlotte's Web
Labyrinth
Adventures of Pinnochio (1996)
Free Willy
Homeward Bound
Paddington 2 - This is better than the first one.

Elflocks - thanks, some great suggestions. DD is reading The Secret Garden atm, so that would be good!

We used to do this taking turns to choose the film. I remember some favourites were

Mrs Doubtfire
Marley and me
Big
Hocus Pocus

There were lots more I can't recall right now

Paddington (I think first is better)
Cinderella (the recent one...it's not animated)
Home Alone
Honey I shrunk the kids
Mrs Doubtfire (though it's a 12 rating so maybe a little old for your DC)
Any of the Diary of a wimpy kid films

formerbabe · 01/11/2018 16:06

Oh and how could I forget
Charlie and the chocolate factory!

TwistedStitch · 01/11/2018 16:08

Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day
