Is this a needle?

I was walking home from the shop a couple of minutes ago when DD stopped to pick up a stick outside a boarded up house. I saw something I think could be a needle so pulled her away and carried on home, to her v vocal dismay.

I've attached a picture because I want to be 100% sure before I call the fuzz.

yes it is. Im not sure what the police will do. I think maybe call the council to come dispose if you dont want to pick it up in something and put it in the bin. Its got a lid on, so not going to stab you

I know the police are constantly down that road (for obvious reasons). Didnt fancy picking it up while I had DD with me and a bag of shopping.
