Most economical way to move one item of furniture

I need to get one large bed collected from an address, delivered to my home and then get my old bed disposed of. The furniture is large enough that I'll need removal men (at least two). Both addresses are in London and about nine miles apart. Can anyone recommend the most economical way to do this?

You may need to separate the collection and disposal.

I don't know how much a collection will cost, but I found a 'man with a van' online about 10 years ago.

Depending on where you live, your local authority may collect your old bed for free, or for a small fee. My London council charges £20 for 6 items. I think vans get charged extortionate rates to use tips/recycling centres, so some won't do rubbish removals anymore.

I got men with ven to move a whole load of furniture from Sydenham to Croydon recently - similar distance. Cost £110, they collected under instruction from one address and I met them at the second. Was via AnyVan - I would recommend them.

I also got rid of a bed recently, and our local council collected it for free, I just had to book it online then stick it outside on the right evening for collection the next day.
