How to help 4yo (with a cut on his bum hole) to poo?

Ds(4) I think has a little tear on his bum hole.
He won't poo now because it hurts. I don't want him getting constipated because he's holding it in.
He's getting the urge to go to the toilet because he's flinging himself about/ writhing around in pain as the urges come.
I'm about to try a warm bath.
Any tips?
Got a doctors appointment for today at 4.30.
Thanks

I would suggest a bath. I was constipated after giving birth and finally 'passed' in the bath. TMI i know but it worked.

Shit ton of Vaseline in and around!

Yes a bath would help. DD had terrible chicken pox all over her bum at a similar age and pooing in the bath helped

When my DD had an anal fissure, which was due to constipation, she was given a cream to help heal it up plus paediatric movicol to get things moving. It worked well. She was pretty miserable and grouchy before it.

Vaseline & drink lots of fluids to make stool softer. Fibre - bannana, weetabix etc. Bless him we all know how painful it can be x

Thanks all.
He's in the bath now. If no luck will try Vaseline.

Use Vaseline anyway. It will help.

When DD had an anal fissure she was poo averse for quite some time resulting in lots of accidents where she'd previously been dry for ages. We had to do lots of bribery to encourage pooing on the toilet again. Just a heads up.
