Can anyone recommend wellies that you can spend the day in, some walking, maybe? For me, not a child!

I went for size 5, I am a size 5, and they fitted really well with good socks. The Bronze Green are basically what I would call olive green.

I know they are hated on here but my Hunters are the comfiest wellies ever, they are the mid calf ones, I've had them 8 years and there's barely a mark on them. Regularly walk 10+ miles in them

I have thr hunters slim fit and find them hugely comfy and they look good too, less welly shape and more boot shape.

Aigle parlours with neoprene lining. I've had mine 3 years and worn them for twice daily dog walks. Warm, comfy fit well (same as my shoe size), best pair of wellies/dog walking boots I've had.

I've got Ariat Stormstoppers, incredibly comfortable, walk miles in them and really stylish too.

I have the Green Bronze ones.

They are very dark green almost black; it's a kind of countryside/forest green but much darker. It's a neutral, really.

Hunters - if you have small feet size 4 or below you can get the identical child version at half the price.

However, for winter dog walking I use walking boots - still waterproof if not overtopped, but much warmer.

Cakecrumbs · 01/11/2018 14:45

Another vote for neoprene lined Aigles. They are my favourite footwear, no signs of wear after 4 years of use (some days all day, others only for 30 minutes or so)

Thanks all!

I'm a big walker, and wear my Hunters in preference to my walking boots often. I've got the slim less welly type ones as well and love them.

ColdNeverBotheredMeAnyway · 01/11/2018 22:12

@ColdNeverBotheredMeAnyway omg those really are cheap!! Are they really worth it? Don't split along the side where they flex with your toes? And can you really walk miles in them?

Yes - they're worth it. I've had mine for at least 3 years, worn them pretty much every day dog walking. Eventually the soles have worn down and the liner has ripped - but they've never split. The sole is a good chunky grippy one too, which I like.

I have a pair of plain old Regatta wellies which are flat footed and cold in comparison. I'm ordering a new pair of Solognacs now. Still gutted they no longer do pink though.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 01/11/2018 22:21

I love my muck boots, I can comfortably wear them all day. I have very big feet so my choice was a bit limited (men's boots are too wide for me and most ladies ones aren't long enough) and I'm very happy my default choice turned out so well. .

Asdf12345 · 01/11/2018 22:28

Aigle, I have neoprene lined for winter and cotton lined for summer. The better half has the fully leather lined ones.

Modern hunters are made in china to horrific quality, lechameu moved production from France to morocco with disastrous consequences. If you want hand made wellies with decent customer service only aigle is left.

If you are prepared to go for a shorter service life there are some knockoffs you might get a year or two from.

SlobDylan · 01/11/2018 22:48

Haven’t read the whole thing but I have hunter wellies and put proper walking shoe insoles in them and can walk miles. Hunters get a bad rep now but mine are old and still going strong. Basically any good quality welly with a good grippy outer sole, in a size big and wide enough for a full-on walkingshoe insert would do the trick I reckon

yolofish · 03/11/2018 09:17

Got my cheapie decathlon ones this morning - they look great, nice fit, and cosy with the liners. Went for black, to match the dog (!) and will put them to the test shortly.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/11/2018 09:51

I wear Le Chameau long leather shooting boots. So comfy, warm and waterproof. Jameson I think they are called
