DH bought me a present I don't want

It is a big birthday coming up and my DH along with his family have ordered me a present. I sent them a link to something as they were after ideas. They have ordered it but on a grand scale rather than the one I loved. DH accidentally sent me the receipt rather than my MIL (he doesn't know this). It is such a lovely gesture but it is such a lot of money for something I don't particularly like. I don't really know what to do.

Tell him. He might be able to change it. They're obviously quite excited about your birthday and want you to enjoy it, so they would be sad to think you were disappointed! Especially if the one you want is cheaper anyway!

Agree, tell him.

Definitely tell him. It's so much better to have an awkward private conversation than pretend to love something in front of everyone (then never use it).

Yes, I would definitely tell him. You're thrilled and touched that they wanted to go big but you really liked the smaller one, is it at all possible that it could be changed
