We all love Mumsnet, however, is it just me or do things happen here that don’t seem to happen in real life.

Everyone cooks from scratch and batch cooks Hmm there’s some reason why supermarkets are packed with ready meals, I like cooking and only work part time but we occasionally have a ready meal Smile

That some mumsneters could do a modem day version of the loaves and fishes miracle using a chicken

All kids love hummus with carrott and cucumber sticks

I imagine people who only get one meal out of a roast chicken would be quite surprised if they knew what a 'portion' of meat looked like.

Chicken is 100g, which is approximately half a chicken breast that you buy in those two packs in the supermarket, or 3 slices of roast chicken

I should have added that I don’t do roast dinner with the chicken. We don’t like them!

Who gets to set this 'portion' then? Its seems a totally random amount. It must have been some important person I suppose. Was it The Queen, as I can imagine she would only eat a small amount being a little old lady. Now when we get King William all the portion sizes will double in size.

totally agree with the seeing of other lives.

I am always amazed on those - how often do you... threads

People who wash towels after every use, right through to people who only wash them twice a year.

It blows me away when people say things which are totally the opposite to what I consider to be 'normal'

One of the ones I have been amazed at is the - never answer the door or phone brigade. Just can't understand that at all.

and the mn obsession with loo brushes.

flatpack1 · 30/10/2018 19:58

@steppemum Haha we never answer the door or phone here. I think the one that got me the most was the opening of windows and the sheer volume of "I open every window in the house from 9am to 5pm daily" replies.

TillyVonMilly My DC does actually like carrots and hummus! Not cucumber though. But his love for ketchup wins it.
