Has anyone had a flu jab yet and if Yes, any reaction to it?

Had one last year, no after effects at all. However, I understand this is a new improved version that may make you feel a bit off. Has anyone had it yet?

Yes. 3 weeks ago. No reactions or side effects.

Wigeon · 30/10/2018 18:10

Injection almost painless. Much less bad than giving blood. Very slightly sore arm for a couple of days (like minor bruise, and only if I touched it) and no other side effects at all.

RahRahRooRah · 30/10/2018 18:17

Had it yesterday, inj site felt a bit bruised for 12 hours, fine today 😃👍

Had mine nearly two weeks ago, felt a bit sniffy for a couple of days but that's it.

WrongKindOfFace · 30/10/2018 18:28

Mildly achey arm for a couple of days. Better than real flu.

incendio · 30/10/2018 18:30

I got mine earlier this month and have been absolutely fine! Didn't even get a sore arm which I did last year.

PanamaPattie · 30/10/2018 18:47

I had mine in September. No issues.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 30/10/2018 18:49

Nothing last year, a hard red lump after about 24 hours, then two weeks later, two days in bed with A terrible cold / flu like symptoms.

Worieddd · 30/10/2018 18:49

Had 2 weeks ago - absolutely no reaction whatsoever

practicallyperfectmummy · 30/10/2018 18:51

No reaction but was told could kick in two weeks later and I could get a temperature with it. So far so good only a few days off two weeks

SeeTwoTo · 30/10/2018 18:54

The injection didn’t hurt at all, I didn’t really feel it.

My arm was fine, not sore.

My immune system is all over the place and I’m wondering if that’s why I reacted to it? So that night I felt shivery, achey, sweaty, tired and generally yuk. I had the injection on a Saturday lunchtime so spent most of Sunday in bed. Felt fine again by 4pm on Sunday. As I say I don’t know if that was an immune response to the vaccine or just a coincidence.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 30/10/2018 18:56

I had a lump and a bruise. Standard for me for my flu jab.

MrsJBaptiste · 30/10/2018 19:19

I had mine a month ago and noticed absolutely nothing amiss!

OddBoots · 30/10/2018 19:25

No problem with mine. There are two types this year, the regular one for adults under 65 and a stronger one for those over 65. Mine was the under 65 one and my parents had the over 65 one, none of us had any trouble.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/10/2018 19:36

Yep. Never ever had a reaction to it.

ClemDanFango · 30/10/2018 19:38

Had it yesterday, the injection site is little bit tender but no probs so far 👍🏻

Nasal spray is live, jab is not. Other than that I don't know.

catenthusiast · 30/10/2018 20:16

My arm was sore the day after but other than that no issues - I did feel a bit knackered but I'd also just come off anti biotics so might have been that.

OhHolyJesus · 30/10/2018 20:35

Yes, sore arm and felt rubbish for a week but it's worth it. It's not an active virus is it, in the jab but it still makes me feel under the weather for a fair few days afterwards.

Over50andfab · 30/10/2018 20:40

Jab and any after effects total non event for me. It’s as well to get it sooner rather than later as it takes about 3 weeks to develop antibodies.

Eligible children 2-17 are given the nasal spray. Adults in at risk groups up to 65 are given the 4 strain vaccine and those over 65 the adjuvenated 3 strain vaccine.

It’s interesting to know that there are many different strains of flu virus and we in the northern hemisphere are given the vaccine made from what have been most prevalent strains in the Southern Hemisphere the previous winter. If we end up getting flu from a strain not included in the jab it should still help in the severity/length of illness. .

krazipan · 30/10/2018 20:41

My arm became very swollen and inflamed for about 1.5 days then been absolutely fine since. It was obviously painful during this time but nothing horrendous. I'd still advise getting the flu jab.

CrackersDontMatter · 30/10/2018 20:43

No reaction from mine. My arm was a little sore when raised high but other than that nothing.

HeyMicky · 30/10/2018 20:44

Had mine as soon as it became available in Boots, a few weeks ago. No side effects - this is the first year for ages I didn't even get a sore arm

SierraJensen · 30/10/2018 20:47

Huge bruise that went all the colours of the rainbow! Felt fine though.
