Light-hearted before anyone flames me

Eurgh the chap sitting next to me has been eating the smelliest foods all day

Started with a yoghurt that he ate ALL MORNING. It didn't smell at the beginning but by lunch time, the yoghurt smell was just so overpowering

Then he chucks that (hallelujah!!) and buys a chicken curry soup thingy for lunch Shock which he has been eating for 1 hour!! He just takes a small bite then does something else argh 😤 how much longer do I have to put up with this smell!!

Regal me with your stories of smelly food slow eaters!

I'm so tempted to tell him off but I don't know who he is (hot dealing)

Not a slow eater, but someone will often throw on eggs or mackerel onto her salads. We work in a small office of 4 and it usually stinks the entire floor out, if you come in from outside you would think we've either been farting all day or not washing.

happychange · 30/10/2018 14:47

Ooh gosh I would hate for people to think I've been farting all day long 😂😂😂

He's still eating his bloody rice thingy. 😲 he's only 1/4 way through it. I'm feeling a bit sick now

its noisy eaters that get me, or when DSS (12) blows his food for 45mins....

Someone used to bring in tubs of brown leftovers that smelt like dog food and belonged inside a dog. That person has gone but one of the gym-bunny men has taken up the baton with his obsessive protein consumption. Lots of farty eggs and cold fish combined with farty veg. Apparently he can clear a room with his actual farts, but fortunately I haven't experienced that.

We have 2 rules in our office-

No fish
No eggs

Years ago when I first started work, at a very old fashioned company, it was unheard of for people to eat at their desks. We had a lovely staff dining room with proper cooks. My DF was a senior manager at this company & they would be served a 3 course meal every lunch time Grin. It’s a real shame that so many people just eat at their desks these days, if you are working a full day you need a decent break and that would avoid the over powering smell of peopl’s lunches!

alwaysthepessimist · 30/10/2018 15:02

oh god oh god.....so.....the guy I work with regularly brings smelly fish stuff in, I try & go out at that point and having worked here so long it's now just 'one of those things' but now I have a new issue, I work in a business centre & a friend of mine has also started working here (in a different company) - I only see her a couple of times a week but I decided to bring my soupmaker in & made some soup at lunchtime then offered to share it out with a few people, she was one of them, she decided to eat hers sat next to me but she didn't eat it, she SLURPED IT - the whole bowl, really, really loudly, I don't know how I sat there - by the end of the bowl I wanted to scream at her to eat properly, god it was just awful & now she keeps saying she will bring the next lot in and we can have lunch together again - I am starting to run out of excuses to avoid her at lunchtimes.....

Deathraystare · 30/10/2018 15:30

I worked with another secretary who complained when I ate a banana that the smell was too much for....as she ate her egg sandwich.......

pumpastrotter · 30/10/2018 15:37

@Deathraystare we may be working with the same person....my egg eater complained when I had a banana!

happychange · 30/10/2018 17:48

Lol to the slurper I would definitely be really annoyed at that!

People who make fucking scrambled eggs in the office microwave. The smell is awful, which is why I only make them in a pan at home but at work I have no control over it!

EggysMom · 30/10/2018 18:15

If you're sat near a colleague of mine, it's not his fault that he's eating slowly - he suffers from chronic IBS and is having a flare-up, but knows he has to eat, and so is doing that slowly ....

I hate the smell of tuna. It seems really innocuous and quite popular as a lunch item where i work. But when I object, I'm told "It's only tuna" and expected to accept it because it's not curry or chilli or eggs. We're meant to have a rule against smelly food, but it seems that 'smelly' is a subjective term.

GirlCroosh · 30/10/2018 18:19

Oh god. A woman at work bought some kind of onion curry from a fancy health food shop today. I swear it was 85% onion. I've got pregnancy sickness Envy

WhyAmISoCold · 30/10/2018 18:28

Eggs. I loathe eggs and the smell. It makes me urge. One colleague in particular eats eggs a lot and they stink so much. I have to make myself a coffee and leave it up by my nose so I can smell that instead. I have aspergers and some of my sensory issues are around smells. I cannot focus on anything until the smell has gone. I also usually hold my breath when I open the work fridge as there is often an array of smells, including more eggs. Curry etc doesn't bother me at all.
