I just came across this today - Kookie Magazine - for 8-12yo girls, with no advertising and no gossip/makeup/fashion stuff. Hurray! I've just ordered the 1st 4 issues together for my nearly 10yo. It's right up her street.

Are there any similar magazines out there or is this as unique as I think it is?

(not in any way affiliated, just wanted to share my find!)

Can't be certain that it's unique. But I get the sinking feeling that it'll be a worthy and fantastic product which will absolutely tank.

Yes - they're being a bit brave going ad-free, and depending on sales. Hopefully they'll get the custom they need - I haven't seen then in WH Smith, and it seems like Waitrose might be a good spot for them too. I really wish them all the best of luck. Print is so very hard these days, but I think that for this age group, print is probably better than digital. I would happily let my dd sit up in bed reading this at night before she goes to sleep, when she wouldn't be allowed a device etc. I got the bundle of the 1st four issues and will "feed" them out over the next few weeks.
