Do you remember the other football helicopter crash, Matthew Harding?

The sad helicopter crash this week reminded me of the crash that killed Matthew Harding (vice-chairman of Chelsea) in 1996. The tabloids were full of lurid stories afterwards about his secret mistresses and children and I was slightly obsessed at the time by Vicky Jaramillo in particular.

Googling it this week I found an article about his wife Ruth Harding from a few years later, and I had no idea how awesome she was. She allowed the mistress to attend the funeral, refused to bad mouth her and was determined that the children of the mistresses would be provided for. Then I wanted to find out what she is doing now and discovered that her second husband died of cancer not long after www.theargus.co.uk/news/5132158.amp/

That poor woman (well not literally, she inherited £50 million). But what a sad tale. I hope she's happy now.

Saw Dennis Wise interview on sky talking about it yesterday and the game that followed. Anniversary was last week.

Yes, I remember hearing about the crash on my car radio, I was explaining who Harding was to teen DS while we watched the Chelsea match on Thurs eve as a big banner was unfolded with a tribute. I vaguely remember about the mistresses but didn't know the details about his wife. Then the events of Saturday unfolded .
