Hardy, durable vape for builder husband?

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 09:20

DH is smoking a ridiculous amount.
He cut down significantly a year ago with a vape pen but he went through them so quickly because they got damaged, dusty and broken at work.

I would like to buy him a really hardy durable one for Christmas but I'm currently
online swimming in a world of vapes.

If I find one then someone on Amazon slates it.
Or I find another one and it's £50 with nothing included (I've no idea what I need to include?!).
Or they are hundreds of pounds and not sold in this country.

There must be a huge market for manual vapers who need their item to last?

Does anyone know?

Thank you.

Following with interest. DH needs a good sturdy one too.

Best bet is to go into an actual shop and ask. If you've got a rough estimate of how much he smokes during the day, they'll be able to advise

ARhythmlessMan · 30/10/2018 09:43

Probably best with either an AIO (all in one) box mod like this greyhaze.co.uk/products/hotcig-raio-r-aio-tc-box-mod-kit , (need an 18650 battery and charger) , or a pod system www.electrictobacconist.co.uk/pod-mods-c91 .
The part that's most likely to break would be the tank, with AIO boxes the tank is inside the box, pod mods don't have tanks.
Pods are either sealed systems, you change pods when it's empty or the coil dies or refillable with your own eliquid and/or the coil can also be changed.
You'd also need to get the strongest available eliquid, 18mg/ml to begin with, www.onepoundeliquid.com have eliquid at £1 per 10ml so a cheap way to find a flavour he likes and satisfies the cravings.

He already tried several shops and several recommended vapes. All failed unfortunately.

arythymlessman I will look at those links now, thank you.

Forgot about the Wee Vim www.jacvapour.com/vape-kits/aio-vim , can get pre-filled or refillable tanks/pods and they're a UK company.
YouTube is a great source for reviews, at least you can find out how they work and what you get/need with a kit.

Has he tried the curve vape ?
It's about £35 and really good . You can buy spare parts for it too
Buy him two then he has got a back up

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 15:42

I don't want to buy him two. I want to buy him a decent one that lasts.

I just looked for curve vape on Amazon and nothing came up.

I think this might be the one

Please could someone tell me what I need to get with it to make it a complete set?
It doesn't appear to have the sucky end. And I know I need to get the liquid.
What bits do I need for it?

OP posts:
TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 16:11

This is really starting to piss me off now.
Why do they make it so hard?

None of these bastard vapes (by that make) have a mouth bit. I looked on YouTube for reviews and they don't discuss it. One minute it doesn't have a mouth bit and the next it does and they carry on reviewing like it didn't just appear by itself.

I googled Aegis mouth peice and that doesn't work.

How can they sell it without making it really bloody obvious how I get the rest of it so it can be used?!

Hi OP

The vape above is just the battery - you would need to begin a search for a hardy, durable tank to screw on as those are usually the bits that smash/break due to exposed glass. I don't think it comes with batteries either so you would need to get those.

The vape that I recommend is this one:

www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/arc-pico-baby-e-cig-kit-and-e-liquid.html

The glass tank sits inside of the body so isn't likely to break at all. It is very very simple to use (just press a button) and generally reliable.

It comes with one coil which would need changing in around a couple of weeks (when the vape seems to have less power or a burnt taste). These coils go with the vape above:

www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/cs-atomizer-heads-x-2.html

I use 1.5ohms (measurment of power of the coil) and would recommend this for a new vaper. (The lower the number the more powerful kinda). So if you get this one I would get a couple of spares.

And some liquid, I also recommend onepoundeliquid.com as previous poster.

PassMeTheHaribosAmego · 30/10/2018 16:17

ok don't buy him two then !
I bought an expensive one and it was shit , but there you go , you carry on

purpleworms · 30/10/2018 16:25

^Just thought I should add that me and my partner have started using the vape above after searching for a good but durable vape because all of the other bastards smash! And my partners Dad is a builder and mainly uses these brands of vapes and never has any issues.

Just remembered the other website I use for vape purchases:

www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/e-cig-kits-devices/eleaf-istick-pico-baby-e-cig-kit-and-e-liquid.html

They usually have better offers with free delivery (always google for discount codes too!) although the vape is more expensive on this website right now. This link above is the same vape but its branded differently.

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 17:13

I have no intention of buying a shit one, hence why I'm posting on here. Hmm

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 17:15

Purpleworms it's the dust that gets inside as well, so I'd quite like to get one that states that it's rustproof/smashproof/waterproof.

I still can't get over the fact that the one I found doesn't have a tank.
I've looked up the tanks now and can't figure out which one to get. And they cost as much as the bloody battery.

Who knew the world of Vaping was such a headache?!

StoorieHoose · 30/10/2018 17:23

Top tip. No matter what one you get get a pouch to put it in. DHs vape wouldn’t have lasted as long as it has without him keeping it in a pouch when not using it

FlorencesHunger · 30/10/2018 18:08

I vape but I imagine I'd be lost on the Internet too if I was shopping for one. I suggest going into an indépendant vape shop and asking their advice, also get the rubber rings that goes over the glass tube so it absorbs any drops and doesn't smash.

I went through a vape once every six months but not now since using the rubber ring, mine has had a few knocks and is looking used but it just occasionally needs it's screws tightened.

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 18:15

Stoorie he used the pouches. I guess they weren't enough.

Florences you read my mind. I've just been googling vape shops near me. I think I need to do this.

You can get silicone cases for certain models as well as little silicone covers that protect the tank. That should offer some protection on a building site.

My OH is in a similar field of work and he swears by this one:

Aspire Pockex Starter Kit, Pocket AIO All in One (Stainless Steel) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M34H2G6/ref=cmswwrcppapi_iuk2Bb8N4ZE25

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 18:48

Spartacus I realised pretty quickly that I could get this very wrong.

I might buy all the things he just doesn't like.
It's an expensive mistake to make.
