Recommend me a practical but stylish bag

I'm after a new handbag and I don't know where to start. I usually have a nice on the shoulder bag but since DD's arrival it seems rather impractical as it keeps falling off my shoulder when I try to push the pram.

I'm after a plain black bag. It needs to be a crossbody bag so I can either wear it or put it across the handles of the pram. Approximately A5 size so it fits my A5 diary. I'd like it to be hard wearing.

I quite like some of the Kipling bags but not sure they fall into the 'stylish' category. My usual bags are Michael Kors or Ted Baker.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I've got quite a few Kipling bags. They are industrial strength, come out fab from the washing machine and they last forever.

They're not the most stylish but are extremely practical. My most used one is an A4 sized black crossbody in black animal print, like snakeskin effect. Their plain black is not what I'd call a true black, more like a dark charcoal.
