There's a house by me that already has it it's Christmas lights up!

Last night when I was taking the dog for a walk I noticed a house up the road from me was all lit up, assumed they were having a Halloween party but as I got closer I realised they were Xmas lights and decorations. It's like a winter wonderland. Reindeers, sleighs, Santas, Snowmen, one of those projector things, all the fences and windows covered in led fairy lights. Even a wreath on the front door. I actually stood there dumbstruck. As nice as it looks, it's bloody October and we've not even had Halloween or Bonfire night yet! For context a few of the other houses nearby had pumpkins and scary stuff in the windows for Halloween. That made it seem all the more strange.

I might go back tonight and see if it wasn't my imagination. I like Christmas, but this is ridiculous. Surely a record?

My neighbour does this and than takes the decorations down on boxing day , i find it odd but each to their own i suppose?

I suppose, but I wouldn't like to see their electricity bill come January lol.

Yup. I can well believe it. I saw one last Monday, with decorations up. At first I thought it was a Halloween garland and decorations, but was horrified 😱 when I realised that it was Christmas decorations. I told my client, that lives nearby that I’m going to break in, steal their decorations and make a bonfire out of them. She said she would hold the ‘beasts’ down, as I did it. She’s 87! 🤣

There's a house near here that puts up their Christmas lights in October in memory of their son. It was his favourite thing so they put them up on his birthday & raise lots of money for the condition that he had from October to Christmas.

I guess that would look really weird if you didn't know the story behind it.

I saw a house last night with a huge Christmas tree in the front window, it looked very pretty. I assumed that either they just love Christmas enough to put the decorations up in October, or there's a good reason for doing it early. I've heard of a forces family who did Christmas in November as the dad was going to be stationed abroad in a frontline position in December - and stood a reasonable chance of being killed Sad

How fantastic!

After bonfire night id say fair game but before Halloween? Seems a bit ott

I got my decs out the loft at the weekend
In my defence I was checking to see what I have as we've got two Christmas trees & bigger rooms now we've moved so I need more and to spread the cost I'm starting to buy bits now before December 1st which is Christmas tree day for us.

It's not my thing to decorate too early but each to their own and all that.
