Ryanair luggage policy

Hi! Would love someone to clear this up for me. With all of Ryanair’s luggage policy changes I’m confused as hell.

Correct me if I’m wrong: currently (before Nov 1st), non priority passengers can bring a small bag and a larger bag and the larger bag will be tagged at the gate and put into the hold free of charge? I’m fine with a bag being put into the hold (esp for free!) as I don’t want to take two on board, so I don’t want to purchase priority boarding.

As long as it’s free and the crew will put my larger bag (within correct dimensions) into the hold at the gate. If not, i’ll Just pay for priority boarding and lug them both onboard, rather than be charged a more expensive fee.

Help Confused

That’s right. They take it away for free.

Thanks, MnerXX!

I'm flying today and that is my understanding.

But when I'm returning on Friday (2nd) and have to actually check in the 10kg bag at the check in desk. There is a new bag policy starting on 1st Nov. You have to now pay for this too 🙄 but I got it free because the policy change was announced after I booked flights.

I've had various emails from Ryanair about this, each more confusing than the last. Fingers crossed I've understood it correctly!!

I had to read the info 3 or 4 to double check as they don’t word it very well. We flew with them this summer and had no issues once I knew what what was going on

Are you sure they take the bigger bag (up to 10kg) for free? I thought they were now charging for it if you didn't purchase priority boarding?

Shortyboo · 29/10/2018 13:00

canyou, from what I can gather, Ryanair will start to charge for a second bag after Nov 1st.

MnerXX I know, right - I too read the policy stated on their website and was even more confused afterwards!

Yes Shorty now it is free but after Nov 1st it will be a £6 fee per bag per flight.

I bought my ticket back in June but flew last Monday. The tickets were non-priority and I had one hand luggage and one checked-in suitcase. I did not have to pay for hand luggage but they did take it away at the point of boarding the plane.

From 1 Nov you will need to pay for hand luggage, whether you want it in the cabin with you or not.
