Quick question - Lasagne

MrsJBaptiste · 28/10/2018 16:15

If I make up the lasagne now (4.30pm) for dinner this evening (8.30pm) will it be ok? I'm not sure if having it standing for four hours will make it soggy or tastier?

Tastier! Sauce needs to soften (uncooked) pasta before cooking

Sure it will be fine!
I've made lasagna the day before and put in fridge many times.

MrsJBaptiste · 28/10/2018 16:21

I'll do it now then!

Well, after a cuppa and 10 mins more on here... Wink

Definitely better! When making lasagne i regularly make it a day ahead.

Northumberlandlass · 28/10/2018 19:24

I make the mince a day ahead & then make bechamel / build it up the day of eating, but usually hours before we eat it!
It’s one of my ‘go to’ make ahead meals!

In Italy it was traditional to make it at least a day in advance. It is fine to make in advance with fresh pasta or dried, just make sure you add enough ragu and bechamel that it doesn't go dry (unless you prefer it that way!).

Well the mince was in the slow cooker for 10 hours and the lasagne prepared 4 hours in advance and my (fussy) kids said it was a really nice lasagne this time! Must remember this 😆
