Can anyone recommend some beautiful instrumental music?

Yeah I know all music is instrumental but I’m using it to distinguish from songs, y’know with people singing words and stuff. But not necessarily classical or orchestral pieces.

I find myself spending a lot of time on the train at the moment and like to listen to instrumental music. For example the little playlist I made today consisted of I Giorni and The Snow Prelude No. 5 by Ludovico Einaudi, Neverland Piano Variation In Blue from the Finding Neverland score and The Ludlows from the Legends Of The Fall score. Just those 4 pieces on repeat.
I listen to songs 99% of the time but sometimes I just want to zone out and daydream with a beautiful melody without being distracted by voices or lyrics.

So, can anyone recommend some beautiful tunes that I can listen to?

Soundtracks to Dances With Wolves and Out Of Africa are lovely.

Erik Satie, or Chopin's Nocturnes.

Hidingtonothing · 28/10/2018 02:08

Anything by Ludovico Einaudi.

Graeb · 28/10/2018 04:43

Anything by Helen Jane Long. Her piano music is beautiful.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 28/10/2018 04:48

Elgar’s Enigma Variations (especially Nimrod); also Chopin’s Nocturnes as the PP says, and Mozart’s Piano Concerto 21. Beethoven’s piano sonatas.

Most stuff by Sigur Ros.
Sheep may safely graze by JS Bach.

User1983 · 28/10/2018 05:48

Agree, anything by Einaudi

Are you into any post rock? There are some beautiful songs. Recommend listening to 65daysofstatic (try the album One Time for All Time, particularly the track Radio Protector) or Mogwai (try the album Central Belters, particularly the track Hungry Face).

Djnoun · 28/10/2018 07:27

Fully endorse the Ryuichi Sakamoto recommendations too!

Angie169 · 28/10/2018 07:28

If you are listening on Spotify try Rupert Parker he plays well known pieces and instrumental versions of songs but on electric harp.
Also on Spotify anything conducted by Andre Rieu particularly when he's playing with Johann Strauss Orchestra.
If you can watch him on YouTube lots and lots of his stuff out there that is very lively, the ladies wear beautifully coloured bright ball gowns instead of the normal black and white monochrome boring stuff

Blarneybear · 28/10/2018 07:29

andantecantabile I was going to recommend that!

Or Philip Glass
