Scary film recommendations

I never normally watch scary or horror films as I’m a total wuss but thought Halloween seems a good excuse!

Ones in my mind are Woman in Black and Insidious but I don’t really know what else there is!

I don’t particularly want anything involving young children, I have both Netflix and Amazon Prime if there is something on either of those.

I like It Follows.

I'm a Jeepers Creepers, Halloween (Micheal myers), Friday 13th, fan.

It depends on what type of horror you want.

There are so many. Here's a list of a few:
The exorcist.
Quija
The ruins
Crimson peak
28 days later
Wolf creek
Scream
I know what you did last summer

Get Out is amazing! I watched it twice in a row and I’m not a horror/thriller fan.

We have just sat through the first half of The Conjuring before wimping out and coming to bed HmmGrin

Otherwise, if you can find anythung Japanese in its original form, i'd recommend:.
Dark Water
The Eye
The Grudge
The Ring

Not the remakes, they cook sock!

driggle · 27/10/2018 23:24

Insidious has young children in it so I'd avoid that if I were you. I love horror movies and my particular favs are

Halloween (the Rob Zombie version is my favourite)
The Descent
Friday the 13th
Hostel
Saw

If they're not usually your thing though I would first suggest some cheesy, not-that-scary horrors such as Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Final Destination. I think those are on Amazon at the moment.

Hush

It's on Netflix and omg it had me on the edge of my seat!

hellokittymania · 28/10/2018 01:48

House is audio described, I just found it. I'm visually impaired, and I really don't like scary films, but the main character is deaf. So I want to watch it. I like it when somebody with a disability is in a film.

Elderflower14 · 28/10/2018 02:03

Creep is scary!

UnlawfulBananaPeeler · 28/10/2018 02:05

The Conjouring (the first one) is pretty scary
I also found lights out horrifying but the story line was a bit meh, but visually scary

If you have Netflix the haunting of hill house is absolutely terrifying and a really binge worthy series . If horror films were all that scary I’d pay good money to see them.

hellokittymania · 28/10/2018 02:06

OK, I'm getting creeped out now.

hellokittymania · 28/10/2018 02:08

Banana peeler, I'm listening to audio description and that's scary enough.

hellokittymania · 28/10/2018 02:10

Ron, sweats, laugh, I really should not be watching this in the middle of the night. He just turned out the fuse box.

UnlawfulBananaPeeler · 28/10/2018 02:12

I was too scared to watch hush! The tension is too much for me 😂

hellokittymania · 28/10/2018 02:21

Unlawful, I don't think I could watch this. I don't know how it looks visually, but the audio description is pretty detailed.

hellokittymania · 28/10/2018 03:01

Oh, I just figured out that Maddie's cats name is bitch! I was wondering why she kept referring to it as the bitch.

Good movie, I didn't end up hiding under the bed. Scary though even just hearing it.

penisbeakers · 28/10/2018 03:08

Aterrados. Argentinian horror film. It's amazing.

Mandy. Also amazing.

Mara. It's gives form to sleep paralysis. Brilliant.

Hereditary. So fucked up but so good.

Upgrade. Sci fi horror.

Ghostland. Very psychological.

Apostle. Period horror.
