Anyone know Berlin? Arriving tomorrow and panicking about getting to the hotel.

We will arrive at Schonefeld tomorrow morning and our hotel is in Friedrichshain. Having googled it seems that some trains won't go all the way there. If anyone could advise it would be great. I'm just sitting here thinking I won't even know what the station is called.

We will also have a few hours to kill before we can check in and will have one big bag. So any recommendations for local attractions in those circumstances would be very gratefully received too.

Just broken up from work and feel horribly unprepared for this trip!

There's a tourist info Judy in the airport - we went there and they told us what we needed to get to our hotel

Use Google maps?
Berlin has a really good metro, tram and bus system.
I've just searched for Friedrichshain and the nearest metro stop seems to be frankenfurter.
Or just jump in a taxi?

Where in Friedrichshain?

Take the S-Bahn to Ostkreuz in the first instance. Something will be running through to there.

Friedrichshain doesn't have attractions. It's hipster central. Find a nice cafe and hang out. Or get off at Warschauer Strasse (one stop after Ostkreuz, you may have to change there - all the trains have very clear maps in you can look it up on) and visit the East Side Gallery, or if you don't like crowds get off at Treptower Park and wander along the river and look at the boats. Or go to Alexanderplatz, shove your bag in a locker at the station and go up the TV tower (you may have a small wait for that).

Go straight to your hotel - they should take your bag for you even if the room is not quite ready. They should put it in their luggage room.

Berlin is great - we've just got back.

The transport system is good & taxis are plentiful. I agree with the suggestion to visit Alexanderplatz. We much preferred the east side of the city to the west.

How long are you there for?
