Help me find these books

I read two books when younger and I keep thinking about them. But have no idea what they are called.

One is about a dystopian world where adults died I think and children were just running riot basically. Think they were in a city, and the main characters were a sister and a brother.

There was another dystopian one that was about two boys who met at a fence between their worlds. I'm pretty sure this isn't boy in the striped pyjamas but might be wrong. One boy was more modern and the other more old fashioned. I'm pretty sure the modern one went over the fence and rose the horses the other boy has but I have no idea.

Any ideas? Not the best descriptions I know sorry. Sad

Is the first one The Girl Who Owned a City?

Santaclarita · 26/10/2018 21:56

It could be. The plot sounds familiar but the names of the children don't.

Is ether of them Empty World by John Christopher? Your plots both have elements of it in them.

If you're talking about books from the 70s or 80s then a whole load of them had dystopian worlds where the adults had been killed off. So it's a tough one! I can't think of any others with a brother and sister. Sorry!

The second book makes me think of The Guardians by John Christopher.

SquirreledIn · 26/10/2018 22:21

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guardians_(novel). I forgot the link.

Santaclarita · 26/10/2018 22:21

Well I don't know when they were written but this was only about 15-20 years ago that I read them, so not the 70s/80s.its OK though, I've tried googling them but had no luck.

Yes! It's the guardians for the second one! Thank you Grin

Was the first one Children of the dust?

SquirreledIn · 26/10/2018 22:24

You're welcome. I hope that you find the solution to the first book also.

Ooh just saw Children of the Dust crafty and had a major flashback! Great book. But I was going to suggest The Silver Crown by Robert C O’Brian, any good?

craftymum01 · 26/10/2018 22:33

I loved it. Re-read it as an adult as well
